Titles on individual posts

You'll see the title on this post is rather large, but on all replies below (if there are any) is microscopic and very hard to read. I believe this was the result of a "compromise" Uni suggested long ago, but as it is post titles are important in some RP/master list threads, and they should at least be bolded and the same size as standard text.

If forum users don't like the titles on thread replies, they can always leave the title field blank (try it, it works). Leaving it blank could probably even be made the default setting, if that is the preference.

Titles like So

hhhmmm... perhaps [size] tags could work in Subject lines?

Well, I like it the way it is, but making it a little bigger wouldn't hurt.

I didn't think so either.

Bump.

Is there a reason you can't make your own post title in the body of the post?

I don't know; it was the standard setting on Jolt, and there never was a problem there. Why so here?

Going back and editing 60 posts just so they can have readable titles would be kinda annoying.

That's a good idea. I've done that: remind me in a couple weeks to increase the size of post titles, once every current thread isn't full of them.

But what if you wanna link to an individual post?

^^ The little icon next to the byline is a link.

The way it works is rather frustrating, though--it's just a link to an anchor within the thread's page, rather than displaying the given post on a page by itself.

The latter functionality would be, I think, preferable if it's possible.

You mean the way Jolt used to do it? That always sort of annoyed me since the link never showed any replies to the post in question. But there was a way to link posts both ways on Jolt. This forum has always had just the one way.

The new system simply creates an extra step when I want to link to a post. The old one way was better; could possibly only the "size" bbcode be allowed in the title under a restriction, if at all possible?

What's the extra step?

[b] I hope this works [/b] @@NAME@@

It didn't work, hey what about issue tags like @@NAME@@, if you put that in a title will it say the nation's name whose reading it?

Back in the day, macros were allowed on RMB posts and stuff, but they showed restricted information (like @@ENVIRONMENT@@) so the admins barred access to them.

Also it was misleading: you could post something like "My favorite nation is @@NAME@@!" and it would substitute in the name of whoever was reading.

It could at least make for some funny noob moments.

Like Reppy making a thread called, DON'T READ OR WE WILL BAN YOU FROM NS!

And then for the subject just write: "Okay, @@NAME@@ we caught you."

I'm thinking up so many uses of the @@NAME@@ tag now. It would be awesome, expecially if it worked in telegrams and RMB posts as well.

Yeah, that would make recruiting almost fun for me. @@REGION@@, and @@CURRENCY@@ macros would also work well for my region's recruitment telegrams. It would be nice if we had @@TAXRATE@@ macros, if [violet] cared to add some.

I once saw someone's region that exploited the macros in the RMB in a suitably awesome way (something along the lines of "We're being watched! We think it's the @@TYPE@@ of @@NAME@@, a nation in @@REGION@@ with @@POPULATION@@ million citizens...." etc.). Unfortunately I've never found that region again, perhaps because the sole nation in it expired and perhaps because the ability to use macros in RMBs was removed. That makes me sad. :(

Anyway, I have an on-topic question: would it ever become possible to use bbcode in titles?

I've seen that region too, and like you, never seen it again.

Ah, oh, um, OK. I'll stay on-topic again.
