Complete absence of social welfare

Postby Avalon » Fri Jul 31, 2015 11:56 pm

Hello

I have a bit of a little "problem" here. This nation of mine has been consistently answering issues to increase social welfare, including "welfare programs not faring well" (the process ought to be made easier) and Budget time: accountants excited" (Education is nice, but Health and Social Welfare are more important) and some other issues. I remember getting and answering those two at least 10 times (I receive two issues every day) in a matter of months, but still my nation shows the "complete absence of social welfare" line, and the government's chart doesn't show any spending on welfare.

It's a bit frustrating because welfare is one of my priorities, what am I doing wrong?

Thank you

I know the 'complete absence of social welfare bit can be because of one of the initial choices you make while creating your nation. For example, I've made my country considerably authoritarian in drug use, outlawing all drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. However, my nation still says it has a 'complete lack of prisons'.

As for welfare not showing up on spending, I don't know. That may be a bug.

Your income tax rate is 5.9% so you've been cutting taxes a lot. I know realistically if you (equally) cut taxes that all of the spending categories would remain equal but I think that somehow you cutting taxes frequently might have something to do with that. I don't really know for sure.

Thanks Mahdistan and Crezilivion.

Mahdistan: That might have something to do. I also remember having a nation choose to eat their national animal, and then it didn't matter if I ban it again, the line would show up anyways.

Crezilivion: Before NS's "refactoring" earlier this year, my taxes were a lot higher, but I already had the same issue, and no welfare spendings but I was already trying to increase them. So even if I've been cutting them down, the thing is, the game doesn't give me the chance to raise them, at least not regarding welfare programs.

Miiiiggghhtt be because you're in the negative for welfare spending? Can't check, but it is certainly possible to fall into a hole that requires digging to get out of. Did you choose any radical anti-welfare options for some period of time?

Very good point, Valrifel and thank you! That seems to be the case, even though I don't remember choosing any anti-welfare options, it's true that other seemingly unrelated issues could also have an impact.

Thanks again to everyone that helped! I'll keep an eye on my welfare analysis page from now on, and I consider this topic SOLVED
