Issue #154, Option 2

"Ticketing children for getting out of the house and exercising?" asks Josh Dubois, a school teacher, in disbelief. "That's outrageous! It's true that skateboarding can be dangerous but so is walking down the stairs! You want to ban that too?! What we should do is pass laws requiring safety equipment for skaters - if we allocate a little bit of the tax payers' money to the cause, we can build a skate park that will keep our children safe and away from others on the road too."

The spelling "taxpayer" is more proper than "tax payer."

#020: Gunman Kills Three

For the third option, the "NRA" says ban violent video games. I find that highly unlikely due to their current "only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" mantra. At the very least create an option for this. You can keep the current third one.

Does this count as a something that needs to be changed?

No, this thread is more for grammatical and stat errors.

NS issues aren't realistic. They tend to be closer to satire.

In the title of issue #219: 'Nobody Expects The @@NAME@@ Inquisition', @@NAME@@ should be changed to the new demonym macro.

Also you're equating it to the RL US NRA. The @@NAME@@ NRA could believe this about video games - in fact, they do believe this because it's what they're suggesting.

Issue #265, Option 3

"This brings up an interesting point," remarks socialist author Emily King. "Why do we allow businesses to become "too big to fail?" The solution, surely, is to break up businesses before they reach such a size that they threaten our economy. Imagine it: community-based businesses, run for the benefit of the little people, not faceless, money-grubbing investment banks! Is there really a reason corporations need to be big?"

1. Single quotation marks should be used instead of double quotation marks.

2. The second quotation mark should come before the question mark.

ISSUE #103, OPTION 2

"We can't just destroy these creatures!" exclaimed Robin Jamieson, owner of Schiltzberg's biggest safari park. "They may look ugly to you, but I think they're just beautiful. We need to study them and understand them; think of what we could learn! These wonderful beasts may be a little harmful to the environment, but think of the people who will flock to see them! It would be an educational experience! Think of the money!"

I found a typo regarding the tense. While the majority of the issue is in present tense, as all issues are and should be, the word 'exclaimed' is obviously in the past tense. This word must be changed to 'exclaims' in order for this issue to be grammatically correct.

Why should they all be present tense? It's not grammatically incorrect to have past tense choices.

I have noticed that in the issue "Corruption In The Lobby" there is an error in the second option where it reads "government, but so too do groups of individuals" it should read "government, but so do groups of individuals"

In the "Where's The Love Gone?" issue, option 3 gives me the choice to legalize gay marriage, despite the fact that gay marriage was legalized the first time I had this issue.

Are the earliest issues off-limits for improvements? I've had #026 a few times I'm sure, but just today I noticed one of the effects:

organ donation rates are among the lowest in the region

It would be pretty cool if "in the region" were updated to use the @@REGION@@ macro. :)

They're not off-limits for changes, but that's really only for fixes or upgrades to new macros. The @@REGION@@ one has been around for - well I'm not exactly sure, but a very long time at least and possibly since the start. I'm inclined to leave it - we don't need to use that macro all the time.

Issue 274, option 2, I feel that "Christian" should be changed to a "a religious leader". Also, there is a grammatical mistake as "Christianity" starts with an upper case c over a lower case one

Name of Issue: Purge the Infidels #70
#070: Purge The Infidels! [SalusaSecondus; ed:Reploid Productions]

The Issue
The fanatical religious organization @@NAME@@'s Concerned Citizens for Our God has brought it to your attention that there are many non-believers in your nation, and that they think something should be done about this.

The Debate
1. "We already have an official religion," says @@RANDOMNAME@@, the white cloaked spokesperson for @@NAME@@'s Concerned Citizens. "Why not enforce it? After all, the only way to Heaven is through Us and Our God. If they will not believe in Our Loving and Forgiving God, well, clearly they must be PUT TO DEATH."

2. "Put to death? Is this really the type of person you want to listen to?" says @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Every day I thank God that I'm an agnostic and don't need to believe this nonsense. Religion shouldn't have anything to do with our government. You should get rid of it immediately!"

3. "They're right, religion shouldn't have a role in our government, but they don't go far enough," says @@RANDOMNAME@@ at a local AA (Atheists Anonymous) meeting. "Few things have caused more death and suffering in this world than religion. Just look at the Crusades and the Jihads throughout history! This should be treated like the mental disorder that it is. Remember, religion teaches intolerance, and we cannot accept that!"

4. "Oh Lord, please don't let our noble leader listen to these extremists!" prays your religious advisor, @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Religion is an important guiding force in peoples lives, but we have no right to force it on people. Atheists, since they don't have a religion, are less ethical and their actions cost society more, so it's only fair that they should be taxed more heavily to make up the difference."

Issue: On option #3, second line, it makes reference to real world, Jihads and Crusades? I didn't think you could (I could be wrong). Maybe you could create something else?

Issue #266

Postby Lamebrainia » Fri Oct 17, 2014 12:33 am

After the recent eXtra-Kinetocam Cartographic Digital satellite survey revealed that Lamebrainia is a surprisingly tiny section of land on a peninsula of a much larger continent, expeditions sent to explore these new lands have found a wide assortment other landmasses- all with new cultures and foreign civilizations. Of course, now people are wondering what to do with... or about... their newly-discovered neighbors.

Should be "a wide assortment of other landmasses -", I guess.

ISSUE #332, DESCRIPTION

After @@NAME@@ agreed to host the annual Organization of Really Dominant Economic Regimes (ORDER) summit, opposition parties have slammed the government for planning to spend over a billion @@CURRENCY@@s on security alone. They are demanding an explanation.

This is not such a big issue, but I just wanted to point out that national budgets are usually trillions of dollars, so the one billion dollars spent here would not really be an issue. I think the amount of money should be vamped up to billions rather than just a billion because, like I said, one billion dollars is basically nothing on the government budget. To put it in perspective, my national budget in Schiltzberg is over 18 trillion (according to NS sites) so I would make this change. Thank you.

According to NS tracker sites, not sites officially affiliated with NS itself.

Plus I would dispute the "most national budgets are usually trillions of dollars" - as you can see here only six countries in RL have budgets that go into the trillions.

Not a change we're likely to make.
