Naming of Political Parties

Postby Robonic » Sun Nov 01, 2009 7:16 pm

So, I don't have a fully written out issue, just an idea for one.

In the wake of new issues such as naming your leader, capitol city and religion, why don't we have an issue (or issues) which allow democratic nations to name their political parties and give a brief excerpt of their stance on various issues? Take it or leave it, just an idea.

I think this is a marvelous idea; however, I do believe that dictatorships should also be given this choice.

1. A republican/presidential system (one party in power, that party is democratically elected); the United States

2. A parliamentary system (multiple parties in coalition, one dominant party, democratically election); Great Britain

3. Direct democracy (no parties); classical Athens

4. Single-Party dictatorship (one Party which rules as a unit, in power undemocratically); Lenin's Soviet Union

5. pseudo-single-Party state (one Party, led by one clear leader, in power undemocratically); Nazi Germany

6. Autocracy (one leader, no parties, undemocratic); Mobuto's Zaire

7. Autocratic Presidential system (one leader, no parties, democratic); ???

Just a framework for the issue.

At that the sailor jumps up and runs down to the woman. "You're a lesbian!" he cries. "Me, too! I'm from Mytilene! Where are you from on the island?" :p

Yeah, if someone wants to help out, that'd be great. I attempted to write a few issues back in the day (years ago now and none of them were accepted). But haven't really done anything since. Of course, it seems that anything requiring new "write in" blanks goes through Sirocco, so we should probably try and get his blessing.

Indeed, what about absolute monarchies?

Well, there's always an option in election/politics-related issues to scrap everything and rule like a dictator. We should do the same here - ban all parties except yer own and all that.
Just repeat to yourself, "it's just a show, I should really just relax"

98% of all internet users would cry if facebook would break down, if you are part of that 2% who simply would sit back and laugh then copy and paste this into your sig.

With constitutional monarchies, the power of the monarch may vary depending on whats written in the constitution. I like this idea but I think it might be a bit over complicated.

We're a Confederation, and political parties generally exist only locally -- each within specific Clans -- rather than nationally...
"That's 'Mister Bear' to you..."

We have maps. See our government in action. Embassy Exchange Programme.
BA Tourism Agency. "You know that you're from Bears Armed when..."
Winners, 'Baptism of Fire' 31. Top of Medal-Winners' table, '4th NSOC Summer Olympics'.

Then this issue (which concerns national parties) is not for confederacies.

Explained:

1.* A republican/presidential system (one party in power, that party is democratically elected); This is your standard, United States-styled republic. One party led by one guy is elected every [blank] years.

2.* A parliamentary system (multiple parties in coalition, one dominant party, democratically election); This is where multiple parties are in power democratically, but where one is dominant. Contitutional monarchies, and non-republican democracies.

3.* Direct democracy (no parties); those governments that are democratic, but have no parties (like some types of anarchy)

4.* Single-Party dictatorship (one Party which rules as a unit, in power undemocratically); a system where there is one party in power, with a leader who is mearly a figurehead (oligarchy)

5. pseudo-single-Party state (one Party, led by one clear leader, in power undemocratically); a system where there is one party, but the emphasis is on the leader (autocracy pretending to be oligarchy)

6.* Autocracy (one leader, no parties, undemocratic); One guy, one nation (naked autocracy)

7. Autocratic Presidential system (one leader, no parties, democratic); I just threw this in for the sake of adding an interesting option. There are no parties, one guy is in charge, but the guy is elected (an extreme version of option one)

* = must be in issue
