Welcome to LeftExpo 2015!

What is LeftExpo?
LeftExpo is an annual festival that celebrates and showcases the variety of regions that make up the NationStates Left. Previous festivals were held in 2012 and 2013. Since 2014 saw no LeftExpo, this year's edition is the third exposition.

Who can participate in LeftExpo?
LeftExpo's primary audience is the NS Left, but as the festival is held publicly on the NationStates forum, it is open to participation by all. As the festival is aimed at leftist regions and topics, we ask that those who are not leftists in real life be respectful and not attempt to derail the festival.

Regional showcases are restricted to regions that have been invited to participate.

Which regions were invited to participate in LeftExpo?
This year, the following sixteen regions were invited to participate:
These regions together represent a broad group of nations, from social democrats to anarchists to Leninists. Together, these sixteen regions (the largest group in LeftExpo history) serve a population of more than 1,300 nations.

Schedule of Events
  • Monday, June 29: Festival Begins; Regional Venue Presentations
  • Tuesday, June 30: Regional Venue Presentations; 144th Anniversary of Eugène Pottier's Writing of "L'Internationale" (1-Year Anniversary of The Internationale's Refoundation)
  • Wednesday, July 1: Lecture Series Begins: "Anti-Fascism, or, Why We Fight" by Socialist Space Republic & "Hegelian Dialectics vs. Marxist Dialectics" by Sornian Vanguard
  • Thursday, July 2: Lecture Series: "Nikolai Myaskovsky" by Auhl & "Socialist Realism in Soviet Music" by Misley
  • Friday, July 3: Festival Ends

The International Communist Union is a once populous and now small, but historic and great region.
We tolerate all leftists, but our region is mainly concentrated on communists or revolutionary socialists.
This includes Marxists of all kinds, Anarcho-communists and any other anti-capitalists.

Population
There are currently 7 nations within The I.C.U, though this is due to some long-term decay, and how many members including out founder (Ostakia) have become inactive.

Interregional Affiliations & Military Policy
The I.C.U is a participatory region of The Red Fleet, which is a leftist mixed raider-defender organization. Membership in TRF is not required of members as The I.C.U is not a strictly military region. The I.C.U is closely tied to Antifa and maintains embassies with nearly 100 anti-fascist and anti-capitalist regions. We have fought off many raiding parties, from the Black Riders and Libertem, and co-operate with all who oppose the fascist scourge.

Unique Features
Although small, we hold an astounding score of embassy links. We have also survived invasions and persevered to defend our home region. We also have an individual regional anthem and ideology, of which both make up our Regional Constitutional. We have 3 trusted nations appointed by our Regional Secretary Vashtanaraada; of whom safeguard the region as Regional Commissars.

The Regional Message Board isn't frequently used, due to how in real life our few members are often preoccupied, and live in differing time zones.

Plans for the future
We simply want to continue existing as a prestigious region, and standing as a place where fascism and capitalism are opposed. We wish to attract new member nations, and hope that this presentation may entice some of you to join us :) Please feel free to check out our region, our Constitution is a source of interest for many visitors.

Long Live The Left!

Federation of Anarchist Communes

Postby Kassimo » Mon Jun 29, 2015 2:43 pm

Region: Federation of Anarchist Communes
Nations: 6
Tags: Anarchist, Anti-Capitalist, Anti-Fascist, Communist, Socialist, Eco-friendly, Democratic, Social, Independent, Map, and Small.

The Federation of Anarchist Communes is a recently established region intending to develop a space of liberty where anarchist principles may be realised. The structure and functioning of the Federation invokes the anarchist method of free association and agreement to condition a libertarian order, and, moreover, replaces bureaucratic political machinery with a community organised horizontally, sustained by the lifeblood of mutual aid. From this, we hope anarchist-minded peoples of NationStates may find a welcoming home and a foundation upon which to explore their infinite creative potentials and to cooperate for the betterment of all. The Federation, innocently germinal but uncompromisingly principled, is being forged as we speak by every member who wishes to participate, and will continue to evolve in the direction freely chosen by each and all on an egalitarian basis, for so long as we continue to dream.

Our interregional relationships and military policy have yet to crystallize; for now, we consider ourselves at peace and seek to find solidarity with other like-minded regions.

We can say for sure: our future is open and our plan is simply - to create a new world! Perhaps this is what makes us unique?

Because Funkadelia is the delegate of Lazarus, and has been pretty friendly to the Left. It's not like observing LeftExpo can in any way endanger our regions.

The Democratic Socialist Assembly
Written by Kiptoke-Ruselia

Image
The Democratic Socialist Assembly is an open collection of like minded leftist individuals, who are dedicated to the ideals of Democracy, Equality, Solidarity, Freedom.

The DSA is open to anyone, and it's members are often free to play around, discuss the news, role play, discuss the 'thing' that is the WA, or simply chat and hang out with the community. Anyone can get involved in the regional government, no matter how new or old they are, we view everyone equally.

A Short History:

View more details here: The Great Split

The Great Split is the name given to the mass defection of members from the Democratic Socialist Alliance, the event that precipitated the creation of the Democratic Socialist Assembly.

In early 2011, the embassy feature entered the NationStates scene. Bazlantis, the World Assembly Delegate of the Democratic Socialist Alliance, and Cynthia McKinney, its founder, had already been locked in months of power struggles, with the new embassies only serving to add fuel to the fire. The Delegate and Founder ultimately ended up cancelling each other's embassy requests and establishing ones of their own ad naseum. In retaliation, Cynthia McKinney opted to make the delegacy of the Alliance non-executive, much to the outrage of the region's citizens.

After numerous accusations of being dictatorial and in breach of the Alliance's Charter, Cynthia McKinney argued the point that Bazlantis was in breach of the Charter for cancelling her embassy requests. On 8 April 2011, Bazlantis and Opalaland, old rivals over the delegacy of the Alliance, founded the Democratic Socialist Assembly to resolve the debate. The new Assembly siphoned off much of the old Alliance membership, with the newly born region crafting the democratic institutions held dear to this day.

Population:

As of writing, the Democratic Socialist Assembly contains 215 nations, making it the 50th largest region. At it's peak, it used to contain around 400. (suprisingly, the population began to fall after I became minister of immigration)

Regional Relations:

The DSA is friends with many leftist-ish ideological regions, including the Social Liberal Union, The Versutian Federation, and The Internationale. The DSA has a strict set of quotas that must be fulfilled for an embassy to be set up. This is to make sure that the DSA allies itself with active, ideologically similar, regions.

As a part of it's military policy, the DSA maintains a strictly neutral stance, and does not actively support or is allied to a major defender or raider region. However, the DSA allows it's members to have the freedom to pursue the R/D game individually.

Relevant Tags:

Democratic, Anti-Fascist, Regional Government, Social, Communist, Eco-friendly, Socialist

Military Policy:

The Democratic Socialist Assembly maintains a staunchly neutral position when it comes to military policy, and does not actively participate in regional conflicts. However, the DSA gives members the freedom to actively pursue a role in the raiding/defending game. If necessary, the DSA will come to the aid of it's troubled allies when they are at risk of being taken over.

Interesting Things:
  • We pride ourselves in being an open-minded community, and treat all leftist ideologies equally.
  • The DSA has many good designers and developers, for instance, South Jarvis and his LibreNS++ program (and if i may, my good design of these pages)
  • The DSA Charter is extremely sophisticated, allowing for a strong, democratically elected government, while also allowing our citizens many freedoms
  • The DSA prides itself on our democratic and fair electoral process, through the use of alternative methods (preferential voting, I want to say, but our voting laws have been changed so many times, who knows anymore)
THE FUTURE:

To continue to be the open and friendly community that we have been for years, to expand the number of nations we have, to continue having lasting relationships with our friend regions, and to finally figure out what election system we are actually using (i mean, i prefer approval voting, you know, considering our 215 nation region only has about ~20 people who actually vote)

On The Communist Party of Nationstates (CPNS)
1. We have around 30-35 nations in the party.
2. We associate with Antifa, North Korea, Das Kommune, et cetera.
3. We are Anti-fascist, Communist, Socialist, Anti-Capitalist.
4. We have a militia system which is currently under reconstruction.
5. Our extensive history in organizations such as the Red Fleet and Antifa. As well as our focus on ideological discussion.
6. We plan to extend our military, bring in new members, and extend the diversity of beliefs in the Party.
7. The Communist Party of NationStates is a serious region founded on the idea that only real-life activism and solidarity will bring the social revolution. Mainly centered on the ideology of Marxism-Leninism, the region has expanded it's member base to include revolutionary anarchists and even a handful of mutualists.

It's great to meet like-minded gentlemen, women, and others such as you all. All discussion is welcome.

USSR
Image

The USSR is a mainly Communist region, although very much accepting of other left wing ideologies.

Short History
The region was founded on December 17th of 2002, and remained an important region in the NS world for many years. The region had links to most of the NS Worlds Communist groups, and was home to players from all over the world.
At present our region, similar to the real USSR, has passed it’s heyday and is much less prolific than it was in the past. It still has an active userbase, who are devoted to keeping the region alive, and to restoring it to it’s former glory. Our members are committed to many left wing ideologies, mainly Socialists, and Communists. The Communists themselves are varied, from Anarcho-Communists, Marxist-Leninists and a self proclaimed "Maoist-Titoist".

Population
At current 128, although under 50 or so are regularly active.

Regional Relations
The USSR Maintains a number of embassies, including those with:
Europe
Germany
Communist International League
Anticapitalist Alliance
Allied States of EuroIslanders
United Socialist Republics
North Africa
India
The Communist Party of NationStates.

The region intends to form close ties with many other regions on the NS left in the near future, with Left Expo hopefully being the start of that process.

The Future
The Future of the region is looking bright. We are soon to start regional elections, in order to elect a new council of Commissars. The region is looking at taking a more active role in inter-regional politics, and establishing alliances with other regions. The foundation of a military force, or incorporation of a USSR unit into another regions force is also being considered. The region is also looking at catering towards the RP community to an extent, and may introduce some RP elements to the region.

In all the future looks bright for the USSR, and we come here in hopes of finding new Comrades!

Hippy Haven

Postby NovaTora » Tue Jun 30, 2015 12:25 pm

Hippy Haven contains 86 nations

We have friendships with Philosophy 115 and New York, and our sister regions are Trav Khar and The Communist Beach

We are tagged as Anti-Fascist, Communist, Social, Large, Map, Eco-Friendly, Socialist, Liberal, Pacifist, World Assembly

Hippy Haven is pacifist, but not neutral and individual nations are free to rally to the aid of our allies if they so choose.

Unique features: we're a music-loving bunch, regularly posting links to good tunes and updating our WFE with the coolest music from the 1960s and 70s.

Our plans for the future are to continue to welcome all kinds of music-loving leftists who wish to actively contribute to life in Hippy Haven and live in peace; to continue friendly relations with our neighbours and to actively participate in the world around us.

Hippy Haven was established in 2012 in honour of Hippiedom and hard line communism. We are a socialist, cannabis-friendly region with free health, solar power, organic gardens and readily available recreational drugs.

Social Liberal Union

Postby Anaaxes » Tue Jun 30, 2015 2:09 pm

Image

The Social Liberal Union was founded on the 2nd of January in 2011 by Ainland. Ever since, it's been a community that values debate and discussion, and a region that is a model of an efficient and effective government. While our region is geared towards democratic socialists and socially minded liberals, we welcome a wide variety of other nations who value democracy, social welfare, equality, and freedom of opinion.

Population:
The Social Liberal Union, as of the 30th of June, has a population of 170 nations. We are the 8th largest Liberal-tagged and Socialist-tagged region in the world, as well the 56th largest non-GCR region. Our population usually fluctuates within the 150-200 nation range, depending on the time of the year.

Foreign Relations:
The Social Liberal Union is glad to hold embassies with Democratic Socialist Assembly, The Versutian Federation, International Democratic Union, A Liberal Haven, and The International Kingdom. Embassy requirements and foreign alignment are governed by our Constitution; a thing we're very proud of.

Military Policy:
The Social Liberal Union Constitution requires that we remain neutral in matters not involving our own defense, or that of our close allies. We currently have ratified defensive pacts with the Democratic Socialist Assembly and The Versutian Federation. Member states are still free to participate in military activities individually, by their own free will.

Relevant Tags:
The Social Liberal Union has the following tags: Democratic, Offsite Forums, Map, Eco-friendly, Featured, Socialist, Liberal, Role Player, and Regional Government.

Unique Aspects:
The Social Liberal Union is proud to have one of the most active, professional, and democratic regional governments in the world. We hold elections for positions in all branches of government several times a year. A favorite part of our government is our Court of Justice, which is presided over by three differently elected/appointed Justices, and includes several administrative organs such as the Registry and the Judicial Council. Another notable aspect of our region, is that we are a direct democracy. Any member state can propose and comment on legislation in our cherished Open Parliament.

Our region also has a vibrant and diverse role-playing community. Some of the most popular RP activities are our HD regional map, which is updated regularly, and each plot is customized based on each member state's request; the SLUan Parliament, our spin-off of the EU Parliament; the large amounts of RPs available on our offsite forum, such as the Council of Leaders, where member states can come together to resolve a diplomatic or military incident; and a myriad of other fun and interesting activities.

We're a real mix of people, too; not just one political tag. We accept many different people, and our way of doing things reflects that.

Union of Socialist Soviet Republics

Postby Moselle Est » Wed Jul 01, 2015 1:20 am

(We apologize for the overdue entry)
Short History
The region was formerly known as the United Sovereign Socialist Republics, however, upon the deletion of our founder, the region was abandoned. On the 1st of July, 2015, the Union of socialist soviet republics was founded by [nation=short]Free Rojava[/nation].
We became notable for accepting varying sorts of communist ideologies, from radical Marxism-Leninism to more mild forms of democratic socialism. We represent a wide spectrum of left-wing ideologies.

Population
Curently 48, at the region's peak while it was still known as the United sovereign socialist republics we reached 227 nations.

Regional Relations
Our relations with the most revolutionary and well-known left-wing regions of Nationstates are excellent. We maintain strong military co-operation with North Korea, we are members of Antifa and The Red Fleet, we organized the first two attempts to liberate ICU

Opportunities in the region
Nations may apply to run for the central committee or military college. Experienced nations may also have a chance in joining our security agency, a prestigious position within the region. Any nation may enlist into our red army, provided that they take an oath of obedience to the constitution and its provisions.

A
NTI-FASCISM, OR, WHY WE FIGHT

The text below was originally written by Socialist Space Republic, Admiral of The Red Fleet (Retired) and past World Assembly Delegate of The Internationale, who in the real world is a Holocaust historian. Grammatical and typographical edits have been made, as well as a couple of minor content edits to maximize clarity. It was originally posted on the Regional Message Board of The Internationale at http://www.nationstates.net/page=rmb/postid=2906800, which can be found on Page 338 of The Internationale RMB Archive.

The second to last week in April is the anniversary of the start of Warsaw Ghetto uprising, which, as the biggest act of Jewish resistance to the Nazi regime, should serve as a very important and powerful reminder why the fight against fascism cannot end until the last person is convinced of its dangers and of the need to stand united against it. This text seeks to examine and explain why the need to fight against fascism—in real life and in this game, with whatever means one has at one's disposal—is not only the morally, historically, and politically right choice, but an absolute necessity.

For this purpose several questions need to be answered:

What is Fascism?
As with many terms, the definition of fascism is often academically contested, and while discussions in different academic and political contexts use different concepts of fascism, the definition for the practical purpose sees it as a right-wing ideology that seeks to establish a radically nationalistic authoritarian system; that is often based on racialist and racist views; that seeks to suppress social and political plurality by appealing to an exclusionary racial or national community; that has a concept of superiority and inferiority of ethnicities in an external context and of social groups in an internal context; and that seeks to institute policies that discriminate against groups that are traditionally marginalized, i.e., those that are further removed from social power structures than other groups—namely homosexuals, people who don't define their sexuality in heteronormative model, certain religious denominations, the socio-economically weak, women, minority groups, etc. Furthermore, fascism seeks to oppress—often to the point of physical annihilation—those who oppose it, including people who adhere to democratic principles; the left; people defined as, by their standards, belonging to the wrong religion; pacifists, etc.; as well as those who don't fit in their definition of a "national community," like immigrants or people defined as nationally or racially "inferior," or people who don't adhere to their model of how life should be led.

Fascism stands for oppression, curtailing political and civil rights, enslavement, discrimination, imprisonment, and political violence. Fascism is not an opinion, it is a crime.

Is it still dangerous?
In many a discussion, people will remark that fascism has been over since 1945. However, historically, fascism has survived the end of the Second World War, unfortunately rather successfully: The fascist regime in Portugal ended in 1974; the Franco regime in Spain only ended in 1975; Pinochet's rule in Chile ended in 1990; regimes like Turkmenistan are still in power; and even in Europe, fascism has waged campaigns of political and ethnic violence reaching from pogroms in the first half of the 90s against immigrants in Germany to even more recent army conspiracy in Belgium to the letter bomb attacks by Franz Fuchs in Austria to killing sprees in Russia. Even today, aided by the recent economic crisis, fascism is on the rise in several countries in Europe and, on a smaller scale, in the US.

In Greece, the Golden Dawn Party with rhetoric, symbols, and policies taken directly from the historic Nazis, is gaining in popular support so far that if elections would take place right now, they'd be in third place. At the same time—and as reported by newspapers such as The Guardian—they have killing squads in the streets of Athens targeting immigrants, they have infiltrated Greek law enforcement, and in some places, they have attacked left wing demonstrations and institutions with such violence that it resulted in fighting in the streets with the army intervening.

In the US, the Southern Poverty Law Center reports that since 2008, the membership of fascist, white power, and nationalist groups increased eight-fold. The FBI had to intensify their watching of these groups because they consider them a sizable danger to the political and social system. From the Business Plot in 1933 over the KKK to McVeigh and Eric Rudolph, the phenomenon of fascist terrorism in the US is neither new nor not dangerous.

This and many more examples from all over the world prove the dangerous potential fascism still holds for contemporary societies and why anti-Fascism and the antifa fight is something not only the left should be concerned with. All those who value freedom, civil rights, the right to exercise their religion freely, even proponents of the free markets or moderate nationalists must consider the danger of fascism to them. All non-fascists have the moral and political responsibility to stand united against this form of oppression and discrimination.

How do we fight it?
With all appropriate means at our disposal. This includes, but is not limited to, education, information, social ostracization, demonstrations, the voting booth, legislation, and, where appropriate, the help of state authorities and other practical ways.

In a democratic society, the forefront of the anti-Fascist fight is education, to inform people of its dangers and of the obligation to oppose it and to socially ostracize those who adhere to it despite educational efforts. To prevent its spread, fascists must be argued against wherever encountered and be deprived of any platform to spread their hatred and despicable ideology, either by legislation or by blocking them.

"What about free speech?" is an argument often heard. But this is a false equivalency. Even if not persuaded by the sheer moral argument against Fascism, we need only to take a look at the law in effect in many democratic states: Fascists' right to free speech, while often not completely taken away, is rightfully curtailed in many European countries, not just by laws against the advocation of violence or racial hatred, but also more directly such as in Germany, Austria, or France, who all explicitly outlaw Nazi parties, for example. This is well within the Convention of Human Rights and the European Human Rights Convention. The European Human Rights Court has ruled on several provisions by these countries and has found that where such a danger to social and democratic order exists, the right to free speech can be limited in such a way. The above examples show the violent danger this ideology poses that, at its very core, includes hatred and violence. That is why exactly in the interest of free speech and democracy, fascism needs to be fought. Fascism in this regard is like child pornography, a form of expression that at its core represents a crime and therefore is reasonably not protected by democracy.

The same applies to this game: The internet is a good platform for fascists to spread their kind of hatred and, it is in the interest of all of us to prevent this movement of hatred and discrimination from growing by recruiting here. Whether roleplayed or real doesn't matter, if it contributes to the spread of fascist ideas, it needs to be curtailed and denied a platform. Of course, this game is not the entire internet, but as long as we have some means at our disposal to help prevent fascism from spreading, we need to use them to the best of our abilities in order to at least take an admittedly tiny, but still important step against the danger this ideology represents in real life. It's not bullying if we ban the bully from the schoolyard and thereby prevent them from hitting other kids.

The fight must continue until the last fascist is convinced he or she is wrong and until nobody can spread this ideology anymore because it has become completely unacceptable in every way.

Hegelian and Marxist dialectics

Hegelian and Marxist dialectics

[b]What is dialectics?

Dialectics is the form of observing the progression of struggle, and invariably human society. If we are to reflect upon our observations of development and its expansion, we must first consider the dialectic method.
The initial conception of dialectics as a form of observing human society was set out by Georg W. Hegel(Hegel: A Reinterpretation, 1966, Anchor Books, p.154), who set out the archetype for Marx's dialectical materialism. Hegel described the initial structure of conflict in society. The first stage is presented as the thesis, the status quo, the initial stage, which is followed by the antithesis, the proposed alteration to the status quo or thesis; The conclusion of the dialectic (as it was called) was the synthesis, the end-result, which eventually constitutied a new thesis.(Hegel: A Reinterpretation, 1966, Anchor Books, p.154). I will get to this point and why the proposition itself is fallacious later on.

On Hegel's idealism

A significant concept called dialectical idealism was developed by Hegel aside from the description of the dialectic process. Hegel argued that the concept of humanity was conceived by humans and that our capabilities were limited by our thought. Marx observed the natural fallacious nature of this philosophy and stated that Hegelian dialectics must be ''turned around completely''. Marx realized that natural processes and in general, material processes, were guiding human development. This is where he conceived dialectical materialism. Dialectical materialism argues the same point as Hegel's dialectic process, however, it sets aside the obvious fallacy of the progression of society as an idealistic process. Marx point out that everything was governed by natural laws and humans were shaped by the society they occupy. (Karl Marx, Capital: A Critique of Political Economy, ed. Frederick Engels (New York: Modern Library, no date, first published 1906), p. 25);Again, we'll get to this point later.
Philosophy as a field of study, is, as physicist Stephen Hawking puts it:''Dead'' (Stephen Hawking, The Grand Design, 2010, Bantam Books, p.10) This essay is not meant as a work of philosophy. Philosophy is based on pointless rhetoric and baseless assertions. Marxist Dialectics are a way of studying human society, not philosophy.
Marx argued from a point of historical determinism, while also acknowledging the fact that nothing can be set as an a priori scheme, thus not developing many theories of dialectics, mostly focusing on the use of production and social interactions from a perspective of historical determinism, opposing some of Hegel's theses(Karl Marx, Capital: A Critique of Political Economy, Afterword, Second German Ed., Moscow, 1970, vol. 1, p. 29).
Hegel believed dialectics to be a way of observing a general field of dispute and struggle. Developing the main laws of dialectics, which were later built on by Engels.

1. The law of the unity and conflict of opposites

2. The law of the passage of quantitative changes into qualitative changes

3. The law of the negation of the negation

For the most part these laws functioned off the natural laws that were already described by Hegel. I will give a brief explanation of each of them. The law of unity and conflict of opposites simply states that opposites exist, creating a struggle. For example, fire is hot and ice is cold. This is an opposite; the two are in opposition and therefore a struggle. (K. Marx, in K. Marx and F. Engels, Soch. , 2nd ed., vol. 26, part 3, p. 307)
Quantitative change into qualitative change is simple as well. Let's take the example of a book. The book has five hundred pages; if the book had two hundred pages it would be a slightly shorter book, the quantity of pages decreases. If it had one page, it would no longer be a book. This is what is meant by quality and quantity. Quality does not describe the duration of utility of the item, merely its bounds.(Hegel: The logic, 1874. The Logic, Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences. 2nd Edition. London: Oxford University Press, p.108-109)
The law of negation of the negation is merely the dialectic feeding off the law of conflict of opposites. The thesis is negated, creating the synthesis. Simple as that. A process that repeats constantly, yet in different ways with slight variations.(Hegel, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich. 1874. The Logic. Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences. 2nd Edition. London: Oxford University Press. p.93)
The idea of dialectics is in opposition of philosophy.
To quote Karl Marx:''The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it.''(Karl Marx, Theses on Feuerbach, 1845, Thesis 11, Marx Engels Selected Works,(MESW), Volume I, p. 15)
The hegelian conception of dialectics as an idealistic set of ideas is nonsensical. Everything is expressed in materials. Natural laws, social interactions, struggles...
We are to logically conclude that most idealistic concepts are in fact, material. Let us take the example of the union of individuality and universality is the basic notion of deriving individual traits from societal interaction on a basic level. To give an example, if a social class exemplified a specific trait, such as intelligence, which can also be tracked in one specific entity. Thefore, individuality and universality merge; a basic idea of intricacy. However, any traits or features exemplified are evident in the material world, their effects can be observed. From this we derive the basic concept that, if any trait exemplified by any individual contemporary and in parallel with the current societal tendency, the individual will be pressured by material conditions of society. The universal trait, which can be a individual entity, can be exemplified in one single entity, namely a human being. The trait is exemplified by the human being as a force on the environment, thefore it is material.
Concepts within the mind are material. They are conceived by material entities and are therefore dependent on the material entities. If said entities were to cease to exist, so would the notions they developed in their minds.
The marxist form of dialectics is flawed. All examples of dialectics developed by Marx, Engels and Hegel have relative exceptions, just to show that nothing can be set a priori without certain relativities. This is not to say that they are incorrect entirely, merely too broad to consider various exceptions within society.

North Korea

Postby Marxist-Feminists » Mon Jul 06, 2015 12:08 am

North Korea

We are a highly politicized, highly militarized, educational, state socialist (communist) region in the game Nationstates. We have the historical distinction of being the only region on NS to stand for Korean socialism and the Korean socialist revolution.

North Korea is a democratic region. Comrades who display revolutionary, progressive politics and ambition; rise to the top through the region's democratic approval. It is also a 'centralist' region, in that the democracy of our region is supreme and binding, there are no factions. In essence this is the "People's Democratic Dictatorship"

As players, we are hardened through the real life struggle as protesters and activists in our homelands for peace, democracy and socialism - that is what makes North Korea one of the rare authentic "communist" regions on Nationstates.

--- --- --- --- --- ---

A Short History:

"North Korea is a region unlike any other communist region on Nationstates, with a long history spanning two founders and a half decade. A region that once had a consistent 7-9 nations has blossomed into a region where dozens of comrades share and discuss ideas, take part in debates and work to strike down the right wing reactionary regions and nations of Nationstates.

Over our history political nuances have taken many forms from hard line sectarianism to forging a NS left unity movement of military might. Several things have remained consistent however, the region's tenacity to drive forward and ever develop itself, to stand true to its socialist roots, to remain vigilant against the militant political right of Nationstates and to defend the existence of real life Korean socialism.

North Korea's strong militant stance on NS is brought on by none other than fascist occupation lasting several months in 2012, where as many of you may note the region was refounded. During this period the North Korean's found refuge in Revolutionary North Korea from where the LEFTEXPO 2012 presentation on our region emerged.

Today North Korea is a busy region of revolutionaries, each working hard to build and grow the region to the best of their ability as well as working to take part in the leftist inter-regional politics of Nationstates. North Korea's history cannot be summed up in any other way than to say that our region has grown and advanced through some of the harshest struggles possible for regions on Nationstates - from losing a founder to CTE, fascist occupation, being condemned by the WA and staying afloat for 6 years now; North Korea is a revolutionary region like no other."

--- --- --- --- --- ---

Population:

As of writing, North Korea contains 148 nations, operated by 15-20 people.

--- --- --- --- --- ---

Regional Relations:

North Korea enjoys the company of its allies on the political left of NS and is also in cooperation of military matters for a broad spectrum of the left.

--- --- --- --- --- ---

Military Policy:

North Korea's military, the Korean Peoples Army is one of the largest left wing fighting forces on Nationstates. We use our WA nations to fight against the right wing, anti-communist and fascist regions/nations of the game. The Korean Peoples Army is a separate organization with separate leadership from North Korea, however its function is to provide the firepower and tactics to achieve the political will of North Korea and the inter-regional left. The Korean Peoples Army "KPA" in recent months has been known to work closely with The Red Fleet, side by side accomplishing the goals of the left on the battlefield.

--- --- --- --- --- ---

Interesting facts:

The current adaptation of North Korea is a replica of the previous region by the same name - and the region's political course and administration has only been interrupted once since 2009 (during occupation by right wing forces for six months in 2012). This makes North Korea one of the oldest consistently functioning leftist regions on Nationstates.

--- --- --- --- --- ---

The Future:

North Korea's leadership and mass population will continue to drive forward in its goals of educating the youth of Nationstates about socialism and creating opposition to right wing anti-communist forces in the game. While likely reaching its growth potential, there is little that needs to be said about the resolute militancy and activity of the region, North Korea is a leftist region like no other and I'm sure it will advance down a road of many successes.
