Capitalist -> Socialist

Postby Celibrae » Sat Apr 18, 2015 3:08 am

Hello, I have a question, is it either possible or plausible to turn from Capitalist Paradise to a more socialist category, and if so, how?

Answer issues in a way that will hurt business and put more money in welfare programs.

No no no no no no no.
No.

Dear, OP, you have to just keep subsidizing business, it's entirely possible to have a prosperous planned economy. You just have to be extremely careful about what you pick, it's also plausible to have a socialist ranking and still not be a welfare state, because socialism in this game is defined by economic freedoms. Or rather, a lack thereof. (I think)

Ok, thanks!

The only problem is, I am extremely capitalist economy-wise, and I'd like to reverse that without harming the economy.

/Is yet more evidence.

It's entirely possible to have a string economic score while being anti capitalist. It just requires careful issue answering.

For reference -

As a capitalist paradise, you need to have a more Authoritarian economy (as stated by Val, subsidizing business can do so without totally wrecking your economy, so long as you don;t suddenly stop subsidizing :P) to reach Democratic Socialist. If you grant more political freedom along the way, you'll be Liberal Democratic Socialists (be more generous to parties/elections). If you go the other way (decrease political freedom) but also increase personal freedoms (ability of the populace to express itself - nudity, etc), you could end up as Iron Fist socialists. If you hit things like Left Wing Utopia or Corrupt Dictatorship, you're close, but off a little in one way or another. The big move you have to make though is the economic one - to the opposite end of the spectrum.
