If the purpose was to tag a foundered region with an active founder then it simply speaks towards incompetency by The Kingdom of Great Britain in terms of battle strategy, so I'm not sure how that' s much better.

Creation of a Mercenary Brigade!

Postby Vaculatestar64 » Mon Aug 22, 2016 3:06 pm

In my capacity as Commandant General of His Majesty's Corps of Royal Marines, I hereby establish the 103rd Brigade, in an effort to reach out to the greater raider community of NationStates. This Brigade shall serve as our Mercenary Brigade, in that all individuals who are not citizens of KGB may join, individuals who do will only have access to the military part of our forums. They will have the same ranking structure as the rest of the military except they are cut off at the rank of Mercenary Captain, who shall be Liddell Hart, a raider that we all know and love! Members of this new Brigade are still eligible for membership in the 102nd Brigade. If they ever wish to acquire citizenship they will be transferred to the 101st Brigade. To join all you must do is sign up on our forums and fill out the required form in our Naturalization Centre.

Signed,

His Royal Highness Constantine Hesse
Prince Royal
Commandant General
Deputy Prime Minister
Foreign Secretary
Member of Parliament for Southern England

• The Office of The Commandant General •
POLICY ON DOS PLAYERS AND SCRIPTS

09.09.2016

BE IT ON BEHALF AND NAME OF THE COMMANDANT GENERAL,

As of now the following policies will be in effect.

1. Delete on Site (DOS) Players

Any contact with DOS players will not be tolerated. If any member of His Majesty's Corp of Royal Marines is found to be in contact with one or more DOS players, they will be demoted one rank. Any members in the position of an Executive Officer, Commanding Officer, or any position on The Generals Staff, will be relieved of command and will be replaced.

2. Scripts

Any player found to be using a script that is in violation of NationStates site policies on scripts will be immediately suspended from service, and a Getting Help Request filed reporting them. They will be referred to the Secret Intelligence Service for review and face possible banjection from the region and permanent banning from the regional forum. Any and all scripts being deployed onto the battlefield must be reviewed by the Generals staff to ensure legalities. The Generals staff will work with individuals who are knowledgeable on both NS Site rules for scripts, and the coding used for any scripts being reviewed.

God Save the Empire and Long Live our King!

Image

Btw, I've held that script policy for a while now, I don't think I've ever really announced it out here though. :P

The intention behind this is a positive development, but I think there has been something overlooked that may require some amendment.

Not all delete-on-sight former players are created equal. Former players like Mad Jack and Milograd, who are DoS for very different reasons than Frak, Halcones, and Cora, and who don't have any interest in trying to illegally participate game-side and haven't tried to do so (as far as I know) since being designated DoS, shouldn't be painted with this broad a brush. They aren't responsible for the actions of other DoS former players. By forbidding your members from having any contact with DoS former players, you may well be forbidding your members from any participation in the off-site communities of The North Pacific and Kingdom of Alexandria, where Mad Jack regularly participates in off-site RP, as well as various IRC and Discord chats. Milograd also occasionally pops in to chat on IRC or Discord channels maintained by various regions, including Osiris.

I'm not trying to be critical here, because I recognize what you were trying to do and it's a good thing, I'm just highlighting a consideration that may not have occurred to you so it can be addressed. Best wishes to The Kingdom of Great Britain in your continued efforts to address a complicated issue that most gameplay regions are struggling with to varying degrees.

If a situation like that arises then I will address it. However for now we're totally dissociating our military anyone who has worn out their welcome on the NationStates site. I obviously cannot speak for our civilian government and the non military members of our region, I'm simply speaking for individuals who are in the Marines. If it comes up that I need to edit it because of a situation that arises that requires it in order for the policy to remain reasonable, then I will do so.

I personally think this is a more than valid concern, and the reply from Vaculatestar is scarce and mediocre (no offense intended, I just mean its content) if anything... Why would you link participation in a community, and off-site community not related to the rules of the game, with in-game infractions?

Don't get me wrong, I do not condone or forgive the rule violations of any player that has become DOSed. Likewise, I consider that any player that willingly keeps contact with those people with the intention of BREAKING THE RULES OF THE GAME has severe consequences to pay. However, as Cormac says, people like madjack or Milo, who are known to still hover around off-site communities, be it for fun, old friendships or the like, have to pay for the people who now are looking to watch their faces¿ (even if for a good reason, which I have no critics for).

So all in all, can we have a better reply to the concerns Cormac has aired, and that I and others share?

I will deal with the situation within the military that I run as I see fit. I am not going to screw around with this issue in public and make my policy decisions a public debacle in a vain attempt to make every Joe out there happy and content that I'm not some devious cheater but at the same time treat the rule breakers who we think are nice people like little princes and princesses. This is the most you're going to get out of me for the moment. If there is another policy decision that I feel is necessary to let the general public of NationStates know about it will be posted here.

Thank you.

A Royal Resolution to Parliament

WHEREAS, the region and military organization known as The Grey Wardens has for a long time opposed the actions of Imperialism and Raiderism on NationStates,

AND, that they have time and time again interfered with His Majesty's Corps of Royal Marines, that august body which defends the interests of the Kingdom of Great Britain abroad,

AND, that The Grey Wardens have consistently impeded, irritated, and attacked our allies,

UNDERSTANDING that we, the Parliament of the Kingdom of Great Britain, under Article III, Section E, Subsection 5, have the necessary ability to authorize any Declaration of War made by His Majesty the King,

AND given that His Majesty the King has requested we perform our duty under the Constitution as relayed above,

HEREBY DO DECLARE AND ANNOUNCE THAT a State of War now exists between the Kingdom of Great Britain and The Grey Wardens, and that we do humbly beseech the citizenry of our region to join His Majesty's Royal Corps of Marines in the hopes of ending this conflict in a stunning victory.
