It's great CoE!

It's anti-recruitment message could make it the ballad of Francoism. :P

I just want to thank TBH and the FRA for putting all of this together. I had a lot of fun with our video, and it was really cool to see the other submissions. There are some really talented people playing this game and it's exciting to hear what they were able to come up with.

I have to admit that "Moves Like Jakker" was awesome enough that it could have probably been submitted again and would have deserved gold. :P

Firstly, I would like to thank all the entrants who put so much work into their entries this year. The quality of songs produced for FRAvision 2014 has been remarkable. My personal apologies I haven't been around as much as I'd have liked to have been (moving house is a hell of a thing!). Without further ado, let's get onto the award!

In 7th place, with 10 points, is Indorphinea with "Electronic Absolution" for 10000 Islands! An excellent composition, but it appears the creaky old traditionalists of FRAvision aren't ready for techno.

In 6th place, with 20 points, is Funkadelia with "Hello, Goodbye" for Taijitu! The only entry with a fully formed MTV worthy music video, this song has captured the spirit of the rejuvenated Taijitu. Sadly, I think it's late entry lost it some points, but it's celebration of NS community has warmed the hearts of all listeners.

In 5th place, with 36 points, is me with "GRA Theme" for the Global Right Alliance! :D What can I say, a unique marriage of lyrical, poetic song writing with angelic vocals not seen since Shakespeare wrote for Etta James... How it didn't win I'll never know!

In a tie for 3rd place with 42 points, is Tim with "Froot" for Spiritus and Anumia with "Two Beds and a Coffee Machine" for Europeia! Tim's 'Froot' is destined for a real world number one single, because cute cats = win and it's so catchy I've been singing it for weeks. I also think, with only a consonant change, Moot (Wintermoot) needs to adopt it as his personal theme tune. :P Anumia's heartfelt performance showed his talent and FRAvision voters were honoured that he overcame his apprehensiveness of sharing his art with us and we all enjoyed his music, and know we'll all be buying tickets to see him play soon!

In 2nd place with 44 points, is last year's winner Crushing our Enemies with "Come Join Us" for The Black Hawks! CoE has yet again put a clever spin on a popular tune to bring it into the NSverse, but this year turned to a darker, satirical note, criticising recruitment strategy - possibly the next Zach de la Rocha of NS? His ingenious word play has once again moved him to the top of the pack, but not quite...

The winner, of FRAvision 2014...

with a staggering 46 points....

is...

Shizensky and Tierra de Madre with "Ob-La-Di" for Renegade Islands Alliance!!!

Shizensky and Tierra, the first entrants to the competition this year, were runaway favourites from the start. The pair have been friends through NS for a decade, and this year made the huge trip from Australia to the US to meet in person. In celebration, they made this song. This is a story that touches us all, a tale of love and friendship born out of an internet game. It's something we all feel and know outsiders to internet communities are unlikely to understand, but many of us have made some of our best friends via NS. This song was the celebration of that we'd all like to make, and the fact that Shiz and Tee travelled so far makes it all the more special. Their lyrics were apt and well put, and Shizensky, I am told, took personal drum lessons from Ringo Starr. So congratulations to Shiz and Tee and all of Renegade Islands Alliance!!!

Thankyou to everyone who took part in FRAvision 2014 and making it such a special and glorious event. I know I've had a huge amount of fun, and hope everyone else has too. I hope that together we have celebrated the diversity of NS communities and the devotion, talent and ingenuity of the people of NationStates. I also think we've all gotten to know each other a little better. I look forward to seeing you all again next year in Renegade Islands Alliance! What better way to end the show, than with the winning entry...

:D

Honestly, I totally get that we won mostly because of the "D'awww!" factor. I was really amazed at the talent present for this and I think I speak for Tee when I say we're immensely excited to host NS's musical talent for the next competition!

I mean it when I thank the other contestants for their submissions. I enjoyed them all and listened to each entry more than once, and because I wanted to! I had so much fun through this whole process, from creating our own song through the trials of recording and experiencing what everybody else was willing to share.

I was supposed to bring my guitar with me for this, so we had to improvise with a wicker basket and a .midi file. I'm pretty sure we'll have real instruments next time! ;)

Thanks again to the FRA and TBH for their work in hosting the event! This was easily some of the most fun I've ever had in NS!

Can I just express how awesome it is to see this, TBH and FRA hosting together, all of us appreciating and dropping love on people who might be our rivals in a few hours, and overall just dropping the partial personas and faction wars in favor of just listening to some great (okay, pretty good and better than anything I could put out :P) music, smiling, and just enjoying this amazing game together? ...Us relative newbies even learn some history along the way! :P

It's good to just get along and have fun, together.

I'm glad this exists.

Good job Shiz & Tierra, a good play on one of my favourite songs. I didn't get to hear the others, unfortunately.

I've never even done karaoke, so I don't know what possessed me to record the GRA theme. But I think it's the spirit of the competition that you don't have to be good (though many are), it's just fun to do.

And of course this led to the discovery of Tim's song fruit, which is brilliant and I go around humming all the time, as does my girlfriend. I also like to swap in lyrics, 'Joe, why you gotta be so slow?' Etc etc... :D

Also, I should be back week after next. Been insanely busy with work and moving house.

Ob-La-Di was always going to win it in my mind; such a lovely collaboration, and such a cute theme :)

Third eh? For a song with no NS relation, and rather a sad one at that, I'm pretty happy to have done so well ^.^ thank you to the hosts and the voters for this year!
