Tragedy struck the Nationstates Community as one of the worst raids in game history was allowed to live for yet another update. The raid, perpetrated by the crafty Crashers at Lone Wolves United and led by their Second Founder, Khan Evil Wolf, was conducted in the region of American Continent, pre-invasion population of 16 nations, no native Delegate. American Continent was a small Role Playing region and part of a larger allied set of regions to include African Continent, American Continent, European Continent, and Middle East. The train wreck of a raid is now in it's fourth day and seventh update of unchallenged failure.
The worst raid ever started as a joke. Annoyed by comments by Defenders that Defending was now impossible due to the increase in post-raid support most invasion forces invite in to secure their captured regions, Evil Wolf and an agent from the Department of Intelligence and Espionage (D.I.E.) set out to purposefully pull the most pathetic attack they could manage. Using the puppet Wahatan, a dirty nation left over from LWU's award-winning destruction of Gardeshia, Khan Evil Wolf entered American Continent a full three hours before the Half-Update. The DIE agent followed up with an attempted update attack, moving Colonial Pennsylvania in during the update. However, before the DIE agent could endorse the point nation, the region updated.
In the past, this normally would be a death sentence for any raid, a time to start picking other targets and switching out your World Assembly status to a new nation because Defenders are on the way... but not that day. These two obvious raider nations sat in region for the next 12 hours until the Full Update, and in a display of bravado, the DIE operative endorsed the point nation of Wahatan two hours before the start of update. No Defenders arrived.
The region was quickly captured by the now puzzled pair of crashers. Surely Defenders couldn't have fallen so low? In days of old such a truly pathetic attempt to raid a region would have been met by an absolutely curb stomping amongst a hale-storm of Defender armies, all tripping over themselves to be the ones to make the invader scum sleep soundly with Kandarin in The Rejected Realms. Could it be that Defenders were, as rumors had suggested, on the brink of extinction? Disturbed but undeterred, Khan Evil Wolf proceeded with the traditional suppressing of over three years of RMB posts, the changing of the regional flag, and the altering of the WFE to remove all links to the native's Role Playing forum. As is tradition.
The Role Players of American Continent, who along with their fellow "Continent" alliance members are Role Playing on a forum titled Nationstates World Regions, have yet to notice the invasion four and a half days later. Additionally, none of the other members that make five region Role Playing alliance have noticed the invasion either, not even when LWU cancelled all their embassies and established one to Lone Wolves United have any of the participants on the Continent Role Play taken any note, seeming lost on their forums with little connection at all to Nationstates itself. Players who claim that Raiding is horribly disruptive to Role Playing can kindly take note.
However, the fact that makes this raid truly pitiful is that all this has been done by just two raiders with zero reinforcements. In fact, Evil Wolf hasn't even show up to half the updates and the only serious threat the LWU raiders have thus far encountered is a The Black Raiders tag-raider team consisting of the nations Renaburg and Ravohuh, who obviously were very confused. Their attempt failed either because they missed the update all together or they forgot that you need more endorsements than the current delegate in order to seize the delegacy. Evil Wolf offered in-game to establish an embassy between The Black Raiders and American Continent as a consolation prize out of pity but Black Riders Commander rejected the offer and so far TBR has not officially commented on the blunder.
This horror show of a raid, however, exposes some very harsh realities for the Defender side. Their claims that Defenders are still a relevant fighting force are being put to mockery as a raid team using the most sloppy of tactics and the bare minimum level of troops can now take regions with laughable ease, hold it for as long as it takes to cancel and establish embassies, and Defenders won't even contest the invaders either during the raid or after while holding. In fact, some raiders are seemingly so bored of the current game situation that they have taken to attempting to raid other raiders for the sport of it, knowing that Defenders are no longer a threat to their operations but still seeking a challenge. It is of little wonder that raids are at near historic highs and that the Crasher side has more total troops than we ever have before, and now pulling recruits from more diverse regions that, in the past, would have never associated with raiding. This is a sad day for Defending, to say the least, and an especially sad day for Lone Wolves United because, lets be honest, this raid was so ghastly even our own members didn't believe it was a real LWU raid.
More on this story when Defenders find three players to attempt a liberation.
