Nobody loves TSP quite as much as Tsunamy. It was also good to see Lazarus and their delegate, Loftegen taking a strong stand against the coup.

Far from unexpected, though. It'll be the regions and important players that take stances we don't expect that will make the real difference here.

Trouble in the ranks, it seems.

Also, I don't recall Drugged Monkeys and Tsu being elected to the offices of Delegate and Vice-Delegate, but whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

Last night I spent 3 hours discussing a compromise that would end the in-fighting and allow for Sandaoguo, Kringalia, and Farengeto to return to the region. A compromise that would have allowed for a vote via an in-game poll to confirm that a Constitutional Convention was needed. Tsunamy in this compromise would join the administration team of the official forums (thesouthpacific.org). The entire Cabinet had agreed to this compromise as it would allow for both sides to move forward and for a better region to be formed.

I am genuinely saddened by the fact that the Tsunamy and Drugged Monkeys have decided not to honor the compromise that was met. I was hopeful that instead of more fighting today that we would be issuing a joint statement moving forward.

Hello TSP,

I know what you're about to read is going to be odd to hear. I know you're going to call me out on saving face, or whatever. That's not why I'm here. You can believe what you will, but I ask you take my words at face value.

I'm here because I'm renouncing the elected cabinet of TSP; more specifically, I'm renouncing the delegate of TSP, Hileville. Hile's behaviour has become unacceptable for me. I've had numerous misgivings about certain actions of the cabinet - some before they happened, some that I supported and later had those misgivings. Regardless, I'd like to acknowledge that my behaviour has also been unacceptable of an elected minister. I misplaced the trust of the region. I've damaged this region.

I still believe in creating change. I still support the idea, the goal, behind the convention. Re-envisioning the laws. Empowering the citizens.

But I can't support Hile.

To Hile, I value you as a friend and I hope you can see past this, but I can't continue any longer down this path. It causes me too much grief. I'm sorry.

Regards,

Scylla
Minister of Regional Affairs
Coalition of the South Pacific

Technically, as the senior member of the CSS with the most endorsements, I'm next in line to be delegate since the current delegate and vice delegate are clearly acting outside of legal authority.

DM -- who has long been a trusted member of the region -- has come to our aid even though he wasn't on the CSS currently.

However, since some members of the CSS were banned illegally, I trust we can call that that a wash.

According to the Constitution you claim to hold so dear, you need to recall the Delegate and Vice-Delegate in order for that to be true. This has not occurred.

For someone who is pissed that the Transitional Government is operating outside the laws of The South Pacific, you sure are breaking quite a number of them yourself.

Perhaps this "breakdown in negotiations" didn't occur because Hile was power hungry, as Tsu has been claiming. Maybe it was the other way around?

Certainly, Wolf. I'm waiting until just now -- after what, 13 years? -- to show that I'm power hungry.

If I really wanted power, wouldn't it have been easier to do it when I was delegate? Not wait until now?

Your past performance does not justify your current ambitions. That's false logic if I've ever seen it.

If you are truly pure in intentions, then why did you break off negations and unilaterally, and illegally, declare yourself Vice-Delegate? That's just as bad as anything the Transitional Government is doing and just as destabilizing to the region.

One thing's for sure...
Nobody on either side gives a damn about TSP law anymore.

Also, again on Scyllaland's "change of heart"... Unfortunately, due to my experience with the collapse of TBR, controversies in DEN, and being in 'real life', I've seen many written, emotional documents where positions are changing and friendships (or more) are in danger. I'm pretty damn experienced in it, to be perfectly honest.

And Scylla's statement seems genuine, until you get into to where he just can't support Hile's behavior anymore, and that's he's racked with this... what was it... "grief"? It's forced. Scylla is changing sides for a reason, that much is clear. The fact he's trying to imitate Kazmr's very real separation from Milograd in the Lazarus coup is bullshit, though, and garners no sympathy from me.

I'll give Tsu and company the benefit of the doubt right now, and assume this is Scylla unnecessarily trying to save face while flipping sides.

Aye. This is now, without a doubt, a Civil War.

On a side note, it seems Hileville has given Belschaft control of his nation, and Bel's first act appears to be the dismissal of every regional officer in TSP.

This should turn out well.

That is quite the upward trajectory for Bel, from unbanned in TSP to Delegate of it in less than a week.

This is the TG that he sent out:

Hi everyone, I'm going to keep this brief.

This is Belschaft, two time former Delegate of The South Pacific. A few minutes ago Hileville handed over control of his nation to me. As of now, the coup is over. I'm in the process of contacting Tsunamy to work out where we go from here, but in the meantime everyone please remain calm and don't do anything rash. I'm hoping to only be Delegate for a few days at most, and intend to organise fresh elections under the Charter of The Coalition of The South Pacific as soon as possible.

I'm unsurprisingly busy right now, and this didn't happen at a great time for me IRL; I was in the middle of cooking and came away when I got a message on FB. Please, no one do anything rash or stupid right now. If you try to contact me and I don't respond, I'm not ignoring you; I'm just trying to do too many things at once to get things back to normal.

- Belschaft

Hmm, technically, under The Coalition government, Belschaft was declared a "Security Threat" and unable to hold citizenship in TSP, much less any sort of elected office.

How much money you want to lay down that The Coalition government will re-enforce his declaration the instant they are restored to power? :P

Those odds are far too high for me to bet on. What's unfortunate is that this will likely be the end of any potentially positive reforms to the region.

They can if they want to; the Hileville Cabinet de-facto vacated the security threat designation though it does remain officially in force.

Tsu is going to be organising fresh elections, and I've asked him to get The Assembly to determine what is to be done until then. I have zero legitimacy to make any decisions regarding TSP at this point; I wasn't elected, nor am I CSS member, I'm just someone Hile trusted to hand his nation over too and clean up the mess.

At this point, I'm waiting to hear from TSP's Assembly what they want me to do.

Agreed. The unfortunate thing is that the Transitional Government didn't achieve a single reform and now everyone is back on the same forums with the same two Admins that were abusing the hell out of their positions for political gain. Unless TSP solves the issues that lead to the forum change and, ultimately, the dissolution of the government then we're going to see this exact situation play out again, probably sooner rather than later.

But knowing TSP, they will probably just double down and either ban everyone involved in the Transitional Government's leadership or declare them all to be Security Threats. Since Tsunamy, Kringalia, Glen, and Farengeto are all on the Committee for State Security, which is the body that can declare individuals to be "security threats", it is an almost near certainty that the latter will occur, even if the former doesn't.
