In that case...

If you're working in the GIMP, Braecland, try this.

Copy image on the bird
Paste as new layer
Layer -> transparency -> Colour to alpha (remove the white b/g for a black bird on transparency)
Colours -> Invert (for a white bird on transparency)
Layer -> Duplicate layer
Layer -> merge down (remove residual transparency)

Le voila: white bird, as smooth as the original.

(Other image editors can probably do the same thing, I just don't know their menus.)

If you want someone to base stuff off your flag it's best not to ripple it. Better yet, post a link to a larger version.

Thanks for that, I use Flag Maker Jr and MS Paint but I may play around with that.

Can you elaborate of what you mean by Lovecraftian? If you mean in the sense of R'lyeh and non-euclidian geometry, that's hard to describe in words, much less make a representation. The flag (http://i.imgur.com/KjqjKDp.png) of one of my alts, Dunsethiggar is the closest I can think of.
