Thanks Orensta and Nuevo for the designs! I like them both, but I think I'll go with the second one for now. Do you know what the characters mean by chance?

Ni (or bi) = Sun
Hon (or pon) = Origin

That's why Japan (or Nippon) is known as the land of the rising sun, much like china is the middle kingdom. The one Orentsa used means "power".

Hey there! So I've tried to make a flag based the great lakes region(including Ontario), which has been slightly difficult since many states have very boring flags, here. I would like to keep the 9 stars and perhaps even the two golden maple leaves, but I feel like it doesn't really embody the great lakes region if it were a nation, if that makes any sense at all.

Essentially I want to mix the flags of the states and the province that surrounds the area(IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, NY, PA, WI and Ontario) the problem being that several states have a similar flag(blue field w/ coat of arms in the center. Those are quite boring.)

So, perhaps:

-Instead of a rectangular flag, could someone try to make a shape similar to that of OH's flag?
-keep the 9 stars in a circle(or in concentric rings) and the maple leaves(OR something else that represents Ontario!), in any color that is appealing and/or draws influences from the region
-the stars are preferably white.
-A color palette similar to blue/red/white/gold. The arrangement of the colors and how you use them are largely up to you.
-(very optional if it does not work well) an colored outline of a grey wolf, or Great Blue Heron, or kingfisher or a Wooden ship here, or here oor this. Probably near the circle of stars, but not necessarily.
-a torchhere or here., below the circle of stars in one color. the color is largely up to you but I would desire it not to clash too much.
-Go crazy
-I'd like to see multiple versions if possible? Thank you very much.

As Corindia says, this lot would be way too cluttered.

I've tried instead going for a pure heraldic approach with a large body of water in the centre, surrounded by the red for Ontario to the North and the Gold for the US to the South. I've then done a variant with the heron, just 'cos I really liked it. I could do either of these as an OH-style pennant, but I'm not a great fan of that layout. Anyway - let me know what you think.

PS: I count 10 stars, not 9. I do like the 7-point stars, though.

This could end up being very busy. Are you sure you want all of these things?
I think it might look good with the animals OR the Torch OR the maple leaf. Unless they're all on top of each other, they're just going to be awkwardly floating outside of the stars or way too small.

Bah, probably should have clarified slightly more, then. I don't want everything stated on the flag, it was more of a guideline than anything required. I would prefer animals or the torch over a maple leaf, however all of them(not together) can look great as well. Does that help you out? Sorry for being a bit vague.

Those are some great versions, but I'll wait and see if anyone else has any further ideas. Thank you! The designs, I think, wouldn't work quite well as an OH-style pennant which isn't truly necessary anyway.

When you look at it up close, it is off center, but i can't help with that one

I would also like to see the same flag, without the star again, but the red strip, and green strip Prussian blue. So i can see if it looks better with the red stripes or blue. Keep the bear on both.

I feel like the placement of the coat of arms is a bit iffy, but that's just me.
I also didn't get want you wanted when you said 'futuristic'. If you could define what you wanted by that i could improve the flag a bit more for you.

As in it uses more simple shapes than the complicated flags of yore. I decided that I want the Coat of Arms out of it. And no Nordic Cross, at all, not even a similar design. In fact I've decided what I want in it now. So, a Black background, with a simple bundle of wheat (whatever it's called) in the centre, on top of it is a Yellow Lion, To the Right of it is a simple yellow ship, and to the left is two yellow crossed swords. All surrounding this is a yellow gear.

I feel like this bump is justified, if you feel otherwise, please tell me, so I know to bump less frequently.

3. Ribbon around bottom of wreath with slavic text (I really dont care what it says, just try and make it look good. Only 2 words please to make 4 work as specified.)
4. Red star inbetween 2 words of said slavic text

Can you put that seal on this new flag idea?

1. Simple white circle in middle of flag
2. Semi-dark Green and white rays around said white circle (kind of like the rising sun flag).
