Fratt resigning should have had its own issue instead of being thrown in the middle.

Yay fratt at updates again.

Pretty powerful condemnation of the WA mods by Gruen, a respected and experienced longtime player over there.

The WA article was enjoyable if a bit heavy handed. Not a bad read all around. :)

Gruenberg's been awarded TRR's Pulitzer Prize for Excellence in Journalism for his article, "A Stain on the Collective Record of the World Assembly". Drama. Conspiracy. Treachery. That story had it all! Well done.

Fratt resigned right before we went to published the new edition. So we put it at the top of the news section instead of a separate release.

Personally, I find the idea of region-wide voting to be really exciting and much more fun. Those who say "but voters don't know anything and will get it wrong" are missing the point: it's a democracy, if you want to make sure voters get it "right", you need to campaign passionately and spread the word. I believe sheer rational greed alone has prevented us from moving towards a more inclusive, democratic structure. This new system would foster a continuum of competitive elections, healthy debate, intrigue and lots of heartfelt campaigning. We've always had the offsite technology to do it and we now also have a polling system too. The time is right for democracy: let's make it happen!

Unibot - why don't you put your money where your mouth then?

Gruen's article had a minor error. It said that the discard feature was used in the 2013 April Fools incident with my "Condemn Horrible Zombies". That is actually untrue. They had to go into the guts to pull that one. One imagines that the development of the discard feature was spurred on by that and similar incidents. Other than that it was a good read, though it could've used more mentioning of my name (preferably in a negative manner).

That's true, but the article was already very long. I'll post a correction next issue if you like.

I would, if it's not too much trouble. It's just, saying it was the first use of the feature is very different than my actions being the thing that essentially quickened the creation of the feature itself. Let's not downgrade my troublesomeness.

I was most interested in the graph showing the shared government membership in the GCRs...could it be said that there's a GCR high society? :P

I call it an aristocratic class, but yes.

Etymologically, 'aristocratic', much like 'elite', implies a value judgement ("rule of the best").
Do you think it's the most appropriate descriptor, especially in an essay meant to be critical of the current state of affairs?

On March 29th, forces from The North Pacific Army, in conjunction with The United Imperial Armed Forces and The Black Riders invaded Scotland and occupied it for the following week. The occupation itself featured over forty pilers and presents itself as just another example of the current strength of “raider unity”.

Inaccuracies abound.

The occupation was a joint effort between The North Pacific and the United Imperial Armed Forces. Your statement is misleading and implies that The Black Riders had an ongoing stake in the operation beyond original capture, which they did not. This was clarified in the very thread you evidently read on the TNP forums, given you quote posts from that thread in this article. Did you miss this clarification, or deliberately ignore it to mislead readers here?

This operation had nothing to do with "raider unity". The UIAF is not a raider entity, and neither is TNP. This was an example of cooperation between the UIAF regions and TNP, and had nothing to do with any broad "raider unity" concept at all.
