You ought to listen to what you say.

And the Holocaust memorial was/is a virtual region in a game. By the very nature of a game, things aren't to be taken as seriously as you do - such as this case.

Does it matter? If I set up a Holocaust memorial in my backyard, do I have to get it registered with the Organization of Holocaust Memorials? No, I don't, its a Holocaust memorial because I decide to treat it as one. The exact same thing happens for this region. It is a memorial because the creators wanted it to be one. You could respect that, instead of showing a lack of respect to Holocaust victims.

You say its not classy, I say its Raiders being raiders.

"You say its not classy, I say its classless people being classless."

It was not honoring anyone who died during the holocaust - we have REAL memorials for that. Just as Antifa doesn't honor the people who have died fighting fascism, a region that calls itself 'holocaust memorial' isn't a memorial. Naming something doesn't make it so.

What makes a memorial a memorial? When its treated as one, and intended to be one by the creators. Doesn't matter how "legitimate" or not you think it is.

I mean, you can call yourself an inteligence, reasoned human being. You are only one of those three things.[/quote]

Then you weren't looking hard enough. That doesn't change the fact that it happened.

I would say it was raiders being a lot more than just "raiders". *coughs*

a region that calls itself 'holocaust memorial' isn't a memorial. Naming something doesn't make it so.

I don't follow this logic. If something is called a holocaust memorial, that's a fairly good reason to presume that the founder intended it to be a holocaust memorial -- and a bunch of raiders spit on that and disrespected it.

I mean, you can call yourself an inteligence, reasoned human being. You are only one of those three things.

Those are four qualities: reasoned, human, being and a spelling mistake of a noun intended to be an adjective. Get it together man!

The creator of the Holocaust Memorial region can call it that all she/he/it wants, until they're blue in the face. It doesn't make it a Holocaust Memorial.

I read the RMB daily, deliberately going back to look at the posts that had been knocked off the main page because it was so entertaining. What you say was there wasn't there. Again, You can say it existed all you want, but it remains untrue.

I saw it with my own eyes, dude. You're not going to convince me I didn't see at least two Black Riders going off on an inappropriate set of racial slurs at the natives. Everyone in #udl at the time, did.

Mahaj wrote:"You say its not classy, I say its classless people being classless.

I feel like it's worth remembering that, generally speaking, a player's in-game actions don't reflect the quality of the player's RL character.

Cerian Quilor wrote:The creator of the Holocaust Memorial region can call it that all she/he/it wants, until they're blue in the face. It doesn't make it a Holocaust Memorial.

That's not much of an argument. What aspect of HM disqualifies it from being a memorial?

I don't agree with the sentiment that the invasion of HM was a great disservice to victims of the Holocaust, but I don't see how the region isn't a memorial. Memorials serve as remembrances of people or events, and if something exists to commemorate an event or person, it can be considered a memorial regardless of its size, notoriety, and appearance.

Cerian Quilor wrote:I mean, you can call yourself an inteligence, reasoned human being. You are only one of those three things.

Indeed, and, to be honest, I don't think that this statement would resonate with me as much as it does if it were written in any other form. You are truly a master of using ethos to great effect, Cerian. Don't let yourself ever forget that.

You did! But I had Solm in mind for Cf. Lt. before you brought him up. You had already told me a week before that you were considering leaving, so I had to start coming up with ideas for new appointments then. Your approval was def. confirmation for me.

THE BLACK RIDERS RIDDEN OUT OF TOWN!
22 January 2013

Good news for native communities all around. In the past few weeks, we've seen several key decisive victories for The United Defenders League against The Black Riders. The first came this weekend when The United Defenders League liberated RORMs against The Black Riders, with the help of The South Pacific Army, Right to Life Army, Coalition of Catholic States, Medjai Guard, The Founderless Regions Alliance and The North Pacific Army in a 30-22 victory. The celebrations began with Chief Unibot and Lieutenant Earth kicking off their "world tour" of NationStates in RORMs. "Since we just help liberate RORMs," explained the Chief, "I think this we'll be a fine place to start the tour!" Lieutenant Earth agreed, "liberating was fun tonight, and it's always lovely to see a region back in the natives' hands".

In the region of Ether, The Black Riders suffered a devastating loss after finishing a fifty-two day occupation last night in failure. While attempting to destroy the oppressed region, The Greenwood Band was able to intercept the malicious refound. Lieutenant Earth jumped up for joy as she was victorious with the refound and remarked that she had forgotten how much fun it was to refound. A transferring of the new founder account to its rightful owners is pending a response from natives. Finally, to end the night off, The United Defenders League* was able to defeat The Black Riders in several regions during their usual tag-raids (i.e., The Forgotten Villages, LalaLand, and The Galaxy) and forced The Black Riders to move too early to invade six other target-regions.

It's been a rough week for the horsemen in black, but I suspect native communities don't mind that one bit.

I was staking Ether out but was busy last update, else I'd have happily nailed it from both of you. It should naturally be returned to Glass Gallows.

Give it to Claraoculos. Not only has he spent more time in Ether than I ever did, but he seems to care for the region more than myself or [region=Glass Gallows] do.

If you could confirm this with Glass Gallows that would be great.

Good to hear that the Ether mission came to nothing and, also, that now that it has a founder it won't be targeted several times a week as perhaps the first updating founderless region. Great job, UDL; you guys were quick!

I wasn't even hiding any prejudice. I assume he meant something about my raider prejudices, which I've never been anything but up front about.

Now, if he's saying I'm anti-semite, I'm going to have to ask him to show me his AIPAC membership card, because they're the only ones allowed to call people anti-semities. :P

IT'S BEEN A HARD DAY'S NIGHT!
27 January 2013

Koth wrote:Oh I missed Uni's ability to move before half our troops

Chief Unibot certainly missed you as well Koth. During update, as the merrymen began to get tired, Chief Unibot put the Greenwood Band's jukebox on to play the album, A Hard Day's Night to cheer up the troops. You know it really has been a Hard Day's Night and I've been working like a dog, I probably should be sleeping like log. But instead, this lonely Staff Reporter is working hard to share with you the grand news. The United Defenders League was, through, sheer will and agility, able to defend Tea Party Conservatives, Amazon Federation, Kingdom of Ireland, Raven Feathers and The Nightmare Realms from The Black Somethings.

Two star performers during Update were Lieutenant Earth and Chief of Foreign Affairs New Bazlantis. Earth managed to defend Amazon Federation and also snagged the delegacy of The Nightmare Realms to defend that region. While New Bazlantis, who is relatively new to defending, grabbed two delegacies and had the pleasure of sending a few invaders to Kandy's BBQ for the first time. Meanwhile in Democratic Socialist Assembly, Chief Unibot and Lieutenant Earth have continued their World Tour of NationStates. Rock on everybody and remember: In the end, the love you make is equal to the love that, erm, shit, I always get that backwards.
