Mostly the danger placement and the text. It all seems off-putting and really odd to me.

In terms of the daggers, maybe try making them less wide so they aren't right up against the outline?

Mhmm. I'd maybe move the upper part, the castle, upwards a bit so there is less of an empty space at the top. This would also make room to move the daggers up so they aren't touching the bottom. Unless you want them to touch the bottom of course, just my opinion.

Making the inner circle-like pattern symmetrical instead of swastika-like would be a little bit more pleasing to the eye.

I want to redesign my flag, while maintaining the general theme I have going on. I want to keep the harmony of blue, white, and gold, as white reflects our peacefulness, gold our economy, and blue our seaside location. Though it feels a little sparse, and so I figured maybe a halo of stars in gold might add to it, or perhaps another band of blue along the top.

Any thoughts or inspiration to give?

Looks pretty good, simple and distinctive which is what I like in a flag. Only nit-pick is the small stars look squashed, it might look better if they were regular.

I disagree. Simplicity is best in flag designs. I like this one much better than the bear-and-stars.

There is a very slight problem when the patterned border runs over 3 different colours, 2 of which match it in different ways. One way to avoid that would be to use vertical rather than horizontal stripes in the tricolour portion. If you did that and had the border next to the white, then I'd suggest trimming the border at the edge of the red rather than keeping the small triangles of yellow.

There's also a rule from heraldry not to put two "metals" (gold/silver = yellow/white) together. The normal practice would be to add a thin black stripe between them. (For balance, you might then want to do the same between yellow and red.)

Not a bad tool, that. Though I think it's better to design your own, makes it more personal, and often means the symbolism actually has meaning beyond 'this looks good'.

Firstly, and most importantly, avoid using white and yellow next to each other. There just isn't enough contrast. The light blue is not great in that regard, either.

You have two shades of red - one for the field, one for the dragon. Using the darker red throughout would be better.

There is a bit too much going on IMHO. The dragon on a plain gold field, or in a larger gold circle on a red/black ground would make a good flag. Tucked in that little circle, it's hard to make out. The hexagon (cube?) is an interesting element, but doesn't sit well with the rest. It might be worth developing on its own, or making it a larger and more prominent feature.

(There are also some image quality issues, but that's not relevant to the design.)

I think it's an excellent bit of graphic art. In that context I really like it.

As a flag, I'm less convinced. My view is that flags should be really simple and distinctive. If you reduce yours to a typical 20x14 icon, would there be enough left to stand out as your country, or would it just be a brown blur?
