Apparently, we won something.

The Blackbird Award

This special award is given to the invader group viewed by the community as the best out there due to whatever reason. A surprising amount of votes here, with an even surprising result, but this might be due to my hiatus.

The winner is:

Unknown

Let it be known that Unknown is obviously much better at raiding than anyone else in this game, because the defenders said we were. We didn't even bother rigging it this year.

(This sounded more awesome and convincing in my head :/)

We've gone and handled two pieces of legislation lately. The first is the Rememdium Consanguinei Ascendancy Act, which is in regards to relations with The Ascendancy. The second is the FA Soft Reset Act, which has more or less wiped the FA department clean and begun fresh, with some exceptions. While the House of Cruor is presently only the Archempress and the members of the executive, it's streamlined approach to handling legislation is proving effective when used.

---

Image

As you just read, we wiped our FA department clean, with some exceptions. So if you log onto our forum and find you're not masked or don't have an embassy anymore, or we just stop posting updates on yours, don't be upset about our relationship ending. It's not you. It's us.

Image

Yeah no, you were probably just inactive. Although if we really, really, really like you, we've made exceptions. All the same, please actually stop by and say hi. If you're one of the seven forum embassies we've kept? You'll be here.

And now, something we've got in the Scriptorium, by Rudyard Kipling.

I go to concert, party, ball --
What profit is in these?
I sit alone against the wall
And strive to look at ease.
The incense that is mine by right
They burn before her shrine;
And that's because I'm seventeen
And She is forty-nine.

I cannot check my girlish blush,
My color comes and goes;
I redden to my finger-tips,
And sometimes to my nose.
But She is white where white should be,
And red where red should shine.
The blush that flies at seventeen
Is fixed at forty-nine.

I wish I had Her constant cheek;
I wish that I could sing
All sorts of funny little songs,
Not quite the proper thing.
I'm very gauche and very shy,
Her jokes aren't in my line;
And, worst of all, I'm seventeen
While She is forty-nine.

The young men come, the young men go
Each pink and white and neat,
She's older than their mothers, but
They grovel at Her feet.
They walk beside Her 'rickshaw wheels --
None ever walk by mine;
And that's because I'm seventeen
And She is forty-nine.

She rides with half a dozen men,
(She calls them "boys" and "mashers")
I trot along the Mall alone;
My prettiest frocks and sashes
Don't help to fill my programme-card,
And vainly I repine
From ten to two A.M. Ah me!
Would I were forty-nine!

She calls me "darling," "pet," and "dear,"
And "sweet retiring maid."
I'm always at the back, I know,
She puts me in the shade.
She introduces me to men,
"Cast" lovers, I opine,
For sixty takes to seventeen,
Nineteen to forty-nine.

But even She must older grow
And end Her dancing days,
She can't go on forever so
At concerts, balls and plays.
One ray of priceless hope I see
Before my footsteps shine;
Just think, that She'll be eighty-one
When I am forty-nine.

I think the graphics themselves are fine, they're just a little too big. The majority of the post is pictures.

But I'm glad to see Unknown creating a presence on the NS forums! Also, woohoo! TBH is one of the seven embassies that got kept!

While I think about it, I should also note that if you actually got a bloodletter in your forums embassy, you didn't lose your embassy on our forums. There might be exceptions, though. Taking stock of all our embassies everywhere else is the one thing I haven't quite done yet.

Sometime earlier last month after the unfortunate collapse in relations with The Ascendancy, we were informed that approximately 50 images directly relating to Unknown were deleted from the image hosting accounts of unnamed members of The Ascendancy (Apparently we are not the real Unknown anymore?). While we're fairly certain that we weren't using 90% of those images anymore, this is because in the time since the images were deleted we've actually been entirely unable to ascertain what most of them actually were.

So on this note; if you happen to see any old pictures about Incognita, Cruor, Unknown and the like, avatars, flags, signatures, medals, standards, whatever, please send links to these images in our direction, as we are now attempting to create multiple archives of these things to ensure the aforementioned incident cannot happen again. We'd also be really happy to wind up finding something we'd never realized existed before. Cheers!

---

Image

You, good sir or madam, are presently reading this in either an embassy in another region or on the main NS forum. You're not at wondering anything at all about how Unknown works, or any history, or who we are in Unknown. Which is why you won't give a damn at all if I tell you that in all our embassies in other regions we're going to be setting up a topic for people to ask questions about us. If you're reading this in the main NationStates forums, you can ask (or not, because you don't care, remember?) questions in this topic itself.

---

Image

Yeah, we're really that short on content.

Have a caption contest!

Image

All entries should be posted in this thread. Best entries will be put in the next Bloodletter. Awful entries will just get you raided or something.

---

Image

Well, only the one raid, the glaringly obvious one and stuff.

Image

This raid was an infiltration; it was made possible by a minimal number of soldiers due to the point's decision to run in the election for who would become the new WA Delegate. Upon leaving, we chose to completely empty Warzone Airspace, because Codger didn't specifically tell us not to (and we really did ask), and because we didn't get anywhere near 50 congratulatory messages for Codger. A good raid that actually helps to "generate activity in the occupied region" isn't necessarily one that empties the place out, but should be one that keeps the natives awake.

Ava, I can link you to all the blooddrop flags if you want them. I have a bunch of the graphics backed up on my ADP photobucket account. I can send you the .psd for the blood drops, or continue making those if you want them still, as a note.

This is true. They did infiltrate. It did seem strange, but I let it run since non-interference in the political process was just that.

They did also ask after the raid. I didn't really respond (and was also RL hiding a bit). What I "really" should of done was to tell them to direct all inquiries to The Great Destruction, because stepping down was just that.

I still have the .psd, which I can send you. It isn't hard to edit it and make new ones. If not, I can make new ones for you in you would like.

Regarding New Earth;

About a year and three months ago, Unknown received several refugees from New Earth. Their founder, a former raider who had recently turned to defending, returned from a long absence only to tear down what they had created and worked on while he was away.

Banned from their own forum, they came to us, seeking a home, and they were welcomed. They became citizens, senators, family, friends, soldiers. But they did not forget their homeland--even while their forums were taken from them; their founder was deleted, making them vulnerable; and finally, their founder returned under another nation to raid them.

And they put their region in our hands, trusting us to give them a second chance.

Now, they have that chance. New Earth is refounded; its forums are up. We guided them through the physical refounding of their region, and we will continue to guide them as they rebuild, until they are once again a region we are proud to call our friends.

Complexo Cruor, and long live New Earth.

Elindra Kshrlmnt Dion Diablessa
Archempress

---

Image

Well; recently, Unknown has had a hell of a lot of activity. This is strange for us. Population growth is highly unusual for us, too. It's very hard to house new people when our architects are actually psychopaths. But no, it's actually occurred. All of a sudden there's been up to a dozen different people posting on the forums a day and I must say, as you'll be reading this, new members of Unknown, that it's great to have you all and it's great to see Unknown more active than it has been in years. :)

This is combined with Grimmjow deciding that recruitment is actually fun, and therefore sending thousands of recruitment telegrams over the last 2 weeks. Unknown has since grown to 185 nations, the most we've had since October 2009. Our highest recorded population is 275 in July of 2009; we've set an ambitious recruitment goal of 300.

Want to get involved in the activity? Swing by and say hi.

---

Image

Regarding The Greater German Reich;

Unknown's standing policy has been to tolerate politics and ideas that do not advocate the annihilation of whole people groups. This has led us over the years to build a strong dislike of Nazis and Nazi regions. Having participated in the liberation of The United Kingdom of Britain from the Greater German Reich, and noting both the interregional conference on GGR and the controversial use of GGR troops as raid backup by other raider regions, Unknown believes that the best course of action is to hold to its standing principles and policy.

In the case of Lone Wolves United using GGR troops as support, we understand the argument presented by LWU regarding their logistical needs, and we will leave that decision to them. However, we will never lend our aid to an operation involving Nazis. Unknown is an enemy of all Nazis, both real and parody. We will not work with them; we will not help them. Every chance we see to destroy them, we will take.

Elindra Kshrlmnt Dion Diablessa

Thank you, I am very humbled Avakael and Cerebella. Unknown is pretty damn amazing, and I am striving to keep it strong and growing. As The Minister of Logistics I am very busy, the longest I have recruited for is 19 hrs and 17 minutes. But I still make time for my other duty of Official Master Barkeep, so swing by to say hai, and for an order of your favorite Alkyholyk Beverage. :D
