Is a "perfect" nation possible?

Postby The Atlantean Menace » Sat Apr 09, 2011 12:04 pm

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to have a "perfect" nation? As in, political freedoms, civil rights, and economy all, let's say, 90 or higher?

Assuming your idea of a perfect nation is anarchy.

It would depend on what your definition of perfect is. Monkiah for example tends to be a socialist democracy, though the WA usually classifies us as democratic socialists or iron fist socialists. Honestly, if you think your nation is "perfect" for you then it is perfect.

It's certainly not turning out perfectly for me. It seems every decision I make on issues has made my country worse. I put cameras in major public areas to decrease crime, and suddenly rights go down? The decision even emphasized major public areas, for goodness sake; that's not a violation of rights, and people should be valuing their safety more anyway. My nation is intended to be very compromising, unfortunately, but since I'm not only plagued with such problems as high crime, but also faced with decisions that either ruin my country or ruin my country when it comes to deciding legislation, I'm not doing very well. I'm wondering if I should simply dismiss every one I can't make a really good decision on and hope the ones I do make decisions on don't create ridiculous laws.

As long as people have differing ideologies, no it isn't possible.

@The Americs

Answering issues is a bit like a balancing act. Some things go up, others go down. If you have more total 'up' than 'down', eventually you'll get high ranks. It takes time to understand how the issues will affect your nation. Why not create a few puppet nations and experiment with the issue options? You'll learn a great deal.

They're talking about the perfect nation regarding ingame nation stats. Bearded ladies are not part of the game, and therefore do not belong in this forum. Maybe you can RP a nation with bearded ladies in one of the roleplay forums?

My nation is as close to perfect as I can get it because I base goals mainly on economic performance data I get from NSDossier. Saiwania is currently at a GDP per capita of $48,005.43 so I consider that very good. I've noticed that my economy peaks whenever I manage to get "world benchmark" for both civil rights and political freedoms.

The main thing I don't like is how Nationstates classifies my nation as an Anarchy because it isn't in my view. Despite 0% income tax my government gets a little more than $34.2 trillion in funding with $255.2 trillion in private consumption. I just happen to prefer smaller, more efficient government, with a much greater private sector so I don't believe my nation should be classified as without a government. Asides from how Nationstates categorizes nations I'm content with how I'm running my country. It's safe to say its a wealthy and developed nation. :)

The only way to have a perfect nation is through an iron fist and guns, lots of guns. Especially moon cannons and nuclear weaponry.

Or write an issue dealing with the widespread oppression of bearded ladies. Then it WOULD be gameplay.

Yes, if you answer the right issues and make sure nothing gets messed up.

But, perfect is a subjective term, in my opinion. If your vision of a perfect nation is an oppressive government without any political freedoms, then go for that.

Obviously it is possible to get a 'perfect' nation as far as getting all high numbers. Personally I consider my nation perfect when the economy continues to rise and freedoms decrease.
