[DEFEATED] Repeal: “On the supremacy of the Potato”

Anotha one. This one proposed by Valanciaga

Security Council Resolution #419 “On the supremacy of the Potato” shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

The Security Council,

Recognizing the versatility of potatoes as a base for many dishes,

Concerned however, for the blood pressure and cholesterol levels of the worlds citizens, as potatoes may be prepared in a variety of unhealthy ways, such as deep frying or chips,

Noting that the resolution does not note the difference between healthy and unhealthy potatoes, and may lead the reader into making unsound dietary choices,

Skeptical of the noteworthiness of the Potato Alliance, which has never attained victory in a single Nuclear Event,

Questioning the effectiveness of “Direct Potato Distribution”, and troubled by the resolutions failure to mention the destruction caused to nations which were recipient to it,

Observing that potatoes are not of particular national importance as nations are often confronted with issues relating to a variety of foodstuffs, including Pasta, Soda, and Chicken,

Aghast that the proposal may alienate nations and cultures which do not feature the potato as part of their cuisine, and frightened that it may legitimize discrimination against them,

Dismayed by the declaration of potatoes as a universal “symbol of friendship and unity” known to all, when there are most certainly cultures participant in the World Assembly that do not ascribe them this meaning,

Acknowledging The Salaxalans’ large artwork collection, but remarking that many large collections of international artwork grouped by theme exist, such as Eagle Heraldry by Apexiala, containing over 3000 pieces, making the potato collection relatively benign,

Doubtful of the long term prominence of potatoes that the declaration promised,

Not wishing to dismiss the fantastic contributions of Potato themed regions and nations such as Spiritus, but recognizing they have been Commended directly in separate resolutions,

Believing it redundant for the Security Council to have declared an official food without any enforcement mechanism at its disposal,

Convinced that agriculture and humanitarian nutrition are issues best left at the helm of the General Assembly,

Asserting that the World Assembly should work to foster equality and diversity among peoples and nations in the multiverse, and elevating a food and cuisine to a status of supremacy above all others, works counter to that mission,

Hereby repeals "On The Supremacy Of The Potato"

I hear this one may have even inspired a counter campaign? I'll be interested to hear your discussions on the matter.

There should be a rule against disrespecting the potato.

It is nothing more than a DISGRACE that this repeal managed to gather the amount of support it has. The original bill did NOT offer any dietary advice nor would it influence any person to change their dieet to include less healthy items. While not every culture ascribes the same meaning on the potato we do, to insinuate this is discrimination is utter nonsense. All the bill did was acknowledge that the potato is AMAZING.
We SHAN'T let this repeal pass! We SHAN'T let anyone discredit the potato! And we SHALL stay united!

"The vapid, amateurish argumentation presented in this repeal embarrasses me for having even given it genuine consideration. It makes several baseless claims about the supposed divisiveness of the potato and the lack of nuclear devastation caused by those associated with that vegetable. It wanders along several non sequiturs about Security Council enforcement mechanisms and other food staples. It fails to even use words properly--how does a large artwork collection render a smaller one 'benign'? This is especially embarrassing given the low quality of the target resolution itself, and the ease with which any competent author might argue well for its repeal. This particular repeal even fails to make mention of the most heinous component to the target: the fraudulent and traitorous elevation of ex-Member Kuriko to the office of Secretary-General, an office which all competent ambassadors know truly to be held in perpetuity by Her Infinite Terribleness, Keeper of the UNmentionable Records, Heart of the Dark, The Wrong Condemnable Dr. Catherine Gratwick, Esq. Such a statement renders the target's continued existence not only flagrantly in violation of the truth and gracious chamber conduct, but also a clear and present danger to the wellbeing of all member nations. To not even make a passing reference to such an issue unfathomably cripples the capacity of this proposal to do its function."

The Wallenburgian turns to the portrait of the Secretary-General over the threshold to the voting chamber, silently makes a cryptic religious gesture to it, and then withdraws from the chamber.

For posterity, here's the Counter-Campaign TG that was sent by Tim-Opolis to nations approving the proposal this morning

Image

Sidestepping the actual arguments regarding the proposal here, I find the characterization of Atlanticana (we all know he was refering to ATL in that line) as a "greifer region" humorous. This is all but a completely mask off confirmation that they were in fact planning a raid on Atlanticana, as vengeance for something Atlanticana had no control or responsibility for. They really are "the good guys" huh. Perhaps if defenders were actually interested in protecting the sovereignty and security of regions (as they claim it is their mission to do), maybe this proposal wouldn't have been necessary.

I do appreciate being called a heartless greifer though. I'll take it as a compliment. As they say, "takes one to know one" ;) I'm not Malice though that's the wrong org :P

Preposterous! This resolution borders on insanity! What is wrong with the potato? Nothing, and his resolution is only defamation to the extreme.

Potatoes are literally the most versatile and tastiest food to ever exists in the universe, why repeal it's supremacy?

Even though it may be prepared improperly or in unhealthy ways, there are more benefits of having potatoes as one of the championed food here, rather than having it not being one. There are much worse food than potatoes and you decided to hate on it.

Totally against the repeal.

This resolution really flopped eh?

As more proof of potato supremacy, there are many dishes that can be made with potato that are certainly healthy. In example, Mashed Potatoes, Hash Browns, Boiled Potatoes, Picadillo, Honey-Roasted Sweet Potatoes, and more than you can think of. And the best of all, they're healthier than many of their alternatives, and potatoes will keep being tasty if you mix it with nearly any food you can imagine.

I hope this can reaffirm the merits of potatoes and also be proof of why Potato will and always be the superior food.
