Instead of the normal suspects from the Palentine delegation, a skinny mild mannered nebbish looking man spoke into the microphone on the desk. He was playing with a large green marble.
"I wish to say that we oppose this condemnation of the Dourian Embassy. We have found him to be the nicest, and most morally upstanding person around...".
[pauses and twitches] "except the time he mooned some preschool kids standing at the bus stop a week ago"!
[clears throat] "He has the milk of human kindness flowing by the quart through every vein. and furthermore he would never do anything that was... illegal..."
[pauses and twitches violently]
"Unless you count all the times he sold dope disguised as a nun."
[pauses]
"He's never done anything underhanded or..."
[begins arguing with himself while temporarily changing shape]
"Shut up! No you Shut up!"
[resumes normal form]
"He's kind and generous and...."
[at this point the nebbish man begins to increase in size, muscles, and brutishness]
[Begins to yell]
"Who are we trying to kid! He's nothing but a low-down, double-dealing, backstabbing, larcenous perverted worm! Condemnation is too good for him! Hanging's too good for him. Burning's too good for him! He should be torn into little bitsy pieces and buried alive. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHGGGGHHHHRRRRRRRRRR!"
[at this point the brute starts trashing the Council room looking for the Dourian ambassador]
"DOURIA!!!!!!! RAAAAAAAHHHHHHHRRRRRRGGGGGG!"

(OOC: couldn't help myself after the GA kerfluffle I thought a Heavy Metal homage would be appropriate. :p )

I see no reason in condemning the nation since most of what is said in those repeals is that the ambassador hopes for a better proposal of the kind the ambassador repeals."

While I agreed with everything else in the proposal, I had to vote against the proposal because of the clause with respect to GAR appeals. No nation should be condemned for writing GAR appeals. If you don't think an appeal should be allowed to be put on the floor and you want to prevent it from being voted on, be my guest. But people should not be worried that the proposals that they make (so long as they are void of vulgar and obscenely inappropriate language and images) will be cause for condemnation.

"This is utter nonsense," said the delegate from West Despotania, fumbling for a cigarette and a lighter stowed in his coat pocket.

"We can't possibly be serious. Condemn a nation for authoring proposals? For getting proposals passed? Absurdity. This wasn't some ludicrous scheme involving voter fraud or what have you. These proposals were passed by majority vote, as were all the ones before it. If we condemn the author of these proposals, we may as well condemn everyone who voted for them as well."

The very first points brought about in this condemnation is very troubling and frankly an unfair prospect for any aspiring repeal/resolution maker. I do not believe it is right to condemn a nation simply because he wrote something you don't ideologically approve of.

Also the repeals listed in this condemnation? They all passed. Condemning a nation for passed repeals? Might as well condemn the voters for not voting your way as well.

Dourian Embassy may be trying to impose their will on the council but if that is so wrong then you should include every nation here.

Why couldn't you just include the later points? The entire first half of this condemnation makes me want to reject this all together.

"We are in complete agreement. We shall eternally be in complete opposition to this proposal, nor shall we ever be convinced that this is anywhere near worthy of the World Assembly's precious time. Good thing this piece of rubbish is being voted down like it always is.

"Wait... this is passing? I have officially lost all faith in the World Assembly..."

We have given this far more consideration than we ought to have given it, but since this is our first official SC resolution vote, I suppose some proper consideration, above that of the normal consideration due to an SC resolution is in order.

We find the accusations against the nation of Douria totally reasonable and given the lack of defense on the part of Douira, we tend to side with the prosecution. However, given the fact that Douria might actually want to be so condemned (he is a very naughty boy), the fact that my region is generally opposed to this resolution and the fact that one should not hand a simple victory to the nation of SkyDip simply because the defense never presented a proper case for themselves, we are inclined to vote against this condemnation at this time. In so doing, we trust that this will be another victory for Gatesville.

Should this condemnation fail, we encourage the nation of Douria to TRY HARDER. Yes, it’s not easy to be a nasty R/D backstabbing nation, but I know that Douria can rise up to the challenge. One would hate to see what would happen to this multiverse if they sat on their laurels. Instead we hope to see something even more vile and nasty in the months ahead.

How it is even possible to top what you have recently done is beyond me but I have every confidence in you. We therefore vote NAY.

NOTING that The Dourian Embassy orchestrated a massive coup in Osiris

This is orchestrating, the same way a conductor calls in sick for work to watch Netflix on their couch, while lending their conductor stick for someone else to run the orchestra. On this point alone, this resolution shouldn't pass. It gives credit where it is not due. It is a sham.

The only reasons for someone to vote for this condemn are because they want to help the Dourian Embassy get a shiny badge, they saw other people they like vote for it, or they just want to get the condemn party over with to end the beating of this dead, undeserving horse. Because the Dourian Embassy is the new Nazi Europe for the Security Council to teethe on, we should realize by now that just condemning them to get it over with doesn't end anything. All that we're doing is setting up the Security Council for a series of repeals and continued condemns of the subject. Either the Dourian Embassy starts actually doing something to earn a condemnation (like not getting a bunch of other people to run their nation and coups for them) or we vote no.

Douria's screwing over Auralia like for for GA #2 to me is actually doing something to earn a condemnation.

Too bad that's not in the proposal.

"We've casted a rare For vote, because Douria recently pissed on Auralia's grave, and fuck yeah, we're down for that. We know Douria wants this - we'll help give it to them." Alexandra looks around the chamber, wondering if her government even has a seat in the Security Council; they so rarely participate.

Unable to find a seat with her nation's name on it, Alexandra settles for sitting on the nearest desk, swinging her black combat boots several inches from the floor. She calmly smooths her violet taffeta skirt while responding to the ambassador representing Margno. "Feels good, man. Ain't that what this place is all about? Putting other people in their place? I know that's why I'm chillin' here - paying my respects to the Dourian government for beatin' Martin Russell to the curb!" The woman folds her hands in her lap and gazes at nothing in particular. "Oh, it was beautiful. You shoulda been there, man. Douria was rollin', others were hatin'. Ro' and I were celebratin'. Most fun we've had in the Festering Snakepit in a long time!"

Prime Minister Zandalar Zandali walks up to the WA podium, and points at Dourian Embassy's ambassador, laughs for a solid 30 seconds, and continues on, "oh ho ho ho! You've messed up now mon, I betcha thought you were high and mighty when the first two days of voting were in your favor! Now the tables turned and ya get whatcha deserved! Ah hehehehe! My country, and the countries I represent, as well as myself all do believe ya deserve this condemnation post haste.". Prime Minister Zandalar Zandali swiftly does a 180 on his heels and slyly strides back to his seat.

I just don't get why people agree with this resolution. How can the Dourian Embassy possibly be harming the WA if their proposals are democratically voted on and approved by the WA itself. If they vote for a proposal that you like then they're smart, but if they vote for a proposal you don't like then the WA voters are stupid and destroying the WA is that it?

It would appear this resolution is as good as passed purely on it's dressing in sensationalist language. Portraying the Dourian Embassy's (to the author, hardly illegal by universal standards) resolutions (all voted on and passed by the WA regardless) as somehow "anti-WA" is disingenuous - the resolutions' survival and passage via legitimate means with the WA would assert this as false. How, then, can a nation be condemned for presenting resolutions that are then passed? A previous colleague said this would extend the responsibility to the voters - this would be correct, and displays just how wrong such a condemnation would be by extension. Because the author disproves of their ideological basis, somehow an 'indictable offence' is conjured? I would say setting such an absurd precedent is untenable, and what's more, unfair.

FOR on the fact that one of the resolutions mentioned should in fact be a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT. And the whole GAR#2 situation which I understand was too recent to be added to it, but should also be considered as a Condemnation like this is really a Lifetime Achievement Award. Let him have his shiny, and then we can ignore him from this point forward.
