By "realistically" I meant that a Rule 4 compliant Commendation of Flag Thief would read something like "recognising that stealing flags provides great entertainment for other nations" - which whilst true, would also be a rather... lame argument. Also, read "IC" in my previous post as "SC IC".

Ok, I stick with "no commendation, no condemnation". Just leave Flag Thief alone. Have a nice day everyone.

While you may have a preference for a Condemnation over a Commendation, I do not see the link with Rule 4. That rule talks about the resolution being readable as coming from a nation, etc... It doesn't outlaw OOC. I believe there has been quite the ruckus in the SC to establish just that, it's not an 'Only RP Allowed' rule.

Rule IV establishes what is SC-IC, and outlaws SC-OOC from resolutions. As Sedge has said, a commendation would be rather lame and contradictory to the SC's IC principles -- the closest example would be "Commend The Skeleton Army" (no offense meant, Sedge) which took the opposite route than this resolution preferred. I think the commendation of the Skeleton Army was a bit of a jab at raiders, they continually whine that they cannot get commended for raiding, so the resolution stands to proclaim that a raiding group that doesn't actually raid is the most commendable of them all. XD

I think "Condemn Omigodtheykilledkenny" is the major precedent for this resolution, but "Condemn Der Fuhrer Dyszel" also can be cited as precedent.

I say condemn. Flag thievery is one of the most heinous of crimes and is a matter of security. The Principality of Rosbough will not stand for anything that compromises the security of its people.

I have looked at the most recent Flag Thief condemnation, and have voted against it. My reason for this action is mainly because the author uses Pacific law to support his condemnation. Clearly, Pacific law does not apply to other regions. Therefore some of the mentioned points have to be disregarded, and it would be most favorable if the condemnation were to be amended.

Umm... but it does apply to the Pacific...

Voted for. Normally I would shy away from condemnations -- but the evidence appears overwhelming, whatever law is utilized.

Some people, unlike myself put hours into their flag and deserve the right to be the only nation allowed to use that flag!

Well if our leader hadn't sold all of our nukes to the Zoblacons our response to the theft of the Stickthing Banner would be a volley of fission firepower! If a nation can't show some good old sovereignty assertion then they deserve to be imitated. "Copy us and die!" is our motto! That being said we are voting against this resolution with the conviction that all of you "victims" are just a bunch of crybabies!

OOC: I support this IRL, but it would be uncharacteristic for my nation to vote in favour.

Your Excellency, are you saying that we actually agree on something? I never thought the day would come.

Using multiple nations that aren't clearly identified as your own to debate a proposal.

Delegate Burroughs recases his works and rises to speak to the forum, his voice is worn and shaky yet still demanding of attention.

It is the belief of this delegation that with each proposal this council is becoming more and more of a side show, and it is with this belief in mind that we are voting for this resolution because stealing flags and people getting all bent out of shape about it makes for a pretty entertaining side show. Thanks for the laughs.

The aging Burroughs returns to the delegation, lights a joint and falls on the ground laughing.

But... but... aren't you supposed to be so shocked that you were condemned that you immediately stop stealing flags?!?! :p

Just like how nations immediately stop doing bad things when the real life United Nations passes sanctions and statements of condemnation against them. :P
