Just a couple of quick points, as a Welshman: 1) If you're translating "Llanfair" as "St. Mary's Church" (and, tick, VG, to that), then you probably ought to have translated "Llantysilio" as "St. Tysilio's Church";... Wait, he was translating the name? I thou...

I'm not in school any longer, but when I was, our School Council was a joke. Parts of it were elected, other parts of it were appointed, other parts were opted-into, and it was entirely conceivable that a member of one branch should be unaware of the very existence of several others. I was in the fo...

Being Francophone, we pronounce it /ljøt.nɑ̃/. When speaking English, however, we do pronounce it /lɛfˈtɛnənt/. It's always spelt "lieutenant," though, since this is the only way, in either English or French, that the word can be spelt.

Only last term, my student union allowed (well, forced, really) me to pay not only for a share in some Sky TV I didn't know I had access to, but also my share of the costs of a protest that I didn't attend and didn't agree with. I'd leave it, but membership was automatic, and to leave would incur a ...
